Star Trek Into Darkness is now on Blu-ray. The latest Trek adventure goes boldly with excitement, action and passion! J.J. Abrams and his crew honor the Star Trek legacy while taking it warp drive into new directions. It’s everything you love about Trek yet feels fresh and exciting like a cadet on their first Starfleet mission!

The story is thrilling packed with moments that make your heart race and make it hurt as Captain Kirk and his crew face threats within the Federation and in deep space. Every member of the Enterprise crew you love (Spock, Uhura, Scotty, Bones, Chekov) stars in their own powerful sequences that all thread into the greater story of family. STAR TREK: INTO DARKNESS Super Bowl Super Clue?

The Star Trek: Into Darkness Super Bowl trailer fueled the fire over the Khan rumors! The action packed spot featured an interrogation between John Harrison (Benedict Cumberbatch) to Captain Kirk (Chris Pine)

“I’m better.”

“At what?”

“Everything.”

This exchange certainly sounds like Kirk debating with an arrogant, genetically enhanced villain with a “superior intellect.”

Paramount will screen the sequel on IMAX screens two days early according The Hollywood Reporter. Fans can boldly see Star Trek Into Darkness on select IMAX screens starting May 15th.

STAR TREK: INTO DARKNESS Poster Revealed

Star Trek: Into Darkness courtesy Paramount Pictures

The first poster for Star Trek: Into Darkness is out! Paramount Pictures tweeted the teaser!

No Kirk. No Spock. No Enterprise.

The poster does show Benedict Cumberbatch (he plays the villain) surveying the ruins of an Earth city or is it Starfleet HQ. Some bloggers have said the city is London given the similarities to specific landmarks in the British capital – good eye IGN. The villain is walking through a blast zone that is in the shape of the Starfleet insignia.

The villain is sporting a Neo (from The Matrix) style look. Speculation about Cumberbatch’s role has run from Khan to Gary Seven. The teaser does have a look similar to The Dark Knight Rises.

Here’s the official synopsis:

“When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction.

As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.”

What do you think? I personally think it’s cool that it doesn’t look like a typical Star Trek movie poster. JJ Abrams make Trek cool again with respecting the legacy without being chained to it – warp speed!

The trailer is about to debut in about 2 weeks.

Feeling SUPERIOR in the Marvel Now

courtesy Marvel

Dan Slott, Ryan Stegman, Humberto Ramos and Giuseppe Camuncoli are creators named in a tease for Superior coming in January 2013. Is this a brand new Spidey comic?

Amazing Spider-Man will end with issue #700. All the creators named have worked on Spidey’s flagship title recently and the colors are in Spidey’s traditional red and blue.

Update: So this is when geek worlds collide. Star Trek popped into my head: Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan when Khan’s second in command said “yours is the superior intellect.”  I thought of clones, then the Spidey clone saga and thought what if Superior was about another Spidey clone since the Jackal recently came back and Scarlet Spider is a hit?

Stay tuned True Believers!

The Wrath of Khan’s Ride – Lego Style!

courtesy Brick Brothers

I’ve met some devoted Star Trek fans but this guy is takes devotion warp speed to the farthest edge of the quadrant! Christer Nyberg has replicated the U.S.S. Reliant with Lego bricks! The Reliant was the Federation starship stolen by Khan in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (or as Kirk said, “KKKKKHAAAAAAAANNNNNNNN!!!”)

“In late 2010 I decided to combine my two geek loves, LEGO and Star Trek. There is not a lot of good Star Trek MOCs on the net, there’s some really cool micro-scale stuff but not much in the large category. I realised quickly that it would be impossible to contruct a large scale USS Enterprise using pure LEGO, so I had to look for another ship. The USS Reliant from Wrath of Khan is much more compact and less spindly, so it seemed a suitable candidate. Many bricklink orders and bricks later (and over a year of prototyping and building) here she is! I have not counted the pieces (my sanity is grateful!) but I would estimate somewhere in the 10-15k range.” the creator told Eurobricks.
