The Marvel Now is here. Two number one issue Avengers books arrive this new comic book day. Two very different titles for a very different reality in the Marvel Universe.

Earth’s Mightiest Heroes reassemble in the aftermath of Civil War II. We still have more chapters of the superhero showdown between Iron Man and Captain Marvel’s forces over the power of predictive justice but we’ve already seen some of the fallout.

It was just a year ago rookies (Ms. Marvel/Kamala, Nova/Sam, Spider-Man/Miles) joined legacy heroes (Captain America/Sam, Thor/Jane) for an All-New, All-Different Avengers.

The new kids are becoming Champions but a legend is joining up with Sam Wilson and Jane Foster’s team. Continue reading AVENGERS MARVEL NOW Begins

It’s an unofficial geek holiday this new comic book day.

October 21, 2015 is the day Michael J. Fox time traveled in a DeLorean to the future. The day from the classic film arrives this week with a new comic book and it’s the top of new picks of the week list:

Back to the Future #1 The future is here! This week’s new comic book day is the same day Marty McFly went into the future in the sci-fi classic Back to the Future II. Original film writer Bob Hale gives us new stories of alternate timelines in a new IDW series that might make you exclaim, “Great Scott!” Continue reading New Comics Picks for October 21, 2015

After deaths of fan-favorite X-Men and Avengers (not the mention the murder of a Celestial!) what does writer Rick Remender do next in his ongoing epic?

Planet X begins this week in Uncanny Avengers #18. It’s up to the last survivors of the Unity Squad to stop Kang the Conqueror.

“We’re going to tell this story through the eyes of the last human on the planet: Wasp,” said Remender in an earlier Marvel Liveblog. Continue reading UNCANNY AVENGERS #18 Welcome to PLANET X

Rick Remender is a wanted man!

After killing two beloved Avengers and an X-Man  the writer of Uncanny Avengers does it again in the final chapter of Ragnarok Now.

It was a shocking death in an epic arc that takes no prisoners.

The next act is Planet X but I’m still reeling from the finale of his second act.

Before I continue here’s a major Continue reading DEATH In UNCANNY AVENGERS #17

Still in shock over the three deaths in Uncanny Avengers #14?

While the deadly showdown is hitting the hearts and minds of X-Men and Avengers fans (I’m not saying who died just in case you haven’t read) that issue was important for the next phase of writer Rick Remember’s epic.

Kang was recruiting his own squad of heavy hitters from across the timelines including Stryfe, Arno Stark and Doom 2099! The writer explains the reasons behind Kang’s recruitment drive: Continue reading UNCANNY AVENGERS Time War Preview

“Nobody dies,” said Wolverine.

Ironic that those orders came from Logan.

The time-twisting, multiple super villain packed epic reached what might be the biggest WTF moment of the year! Let’s just make a new acronym: WTFRR?

Rick Remender again shows why he’s one of the most ambitious, relentless and crazy comic book writers out there in Uncanny Avengers #14 which just hit shelves and is blowing minds.

Artist Steve McNiven joins Remender for this pivotal chapter of Ragnarok Now and captures every brutal fight, cosmic effect and most importantly, the emotional moments, especially Wolverine in a brutal confrontation with his resurrected son Daken.

Let’s recap:

An Avengers Unity Squad was formed to heal the bad blood between Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and mutants after Avengers vs X-Men.

The Red Skull was reborn and stole Professor X’s brain. This was my review/reaction to the premiere issue. Continue reading Avengers, X-Men Deaths In UNCANNY AVENGERS?

Uncanny Avengers #12 is packed with even more evil promising the origin of the Apocalypse Twins, Kang’s endgame revealed and an unholy pact between the Red Skull and…Ahab.

Yes, the ruthless mutant hunter from the future joins Rick Remender’s time twisted epic.

One of the big reasons I’m sharing this story is because celebrated artist Salvador Larroca (X-Men, Invincible Iron Man and currently Cable and X-Force) penciled this week’s issue focusing on Kang the Conqueror. Continue reading Kang Time Uncanny Avengers

Red Skull. Kang. Apocalypse Twins. Onslaught. The new unity team of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Children of the Atom faces a unholy army of villains. Captain America and Wolverine’s Unity Team may get some reinforcements in Uncanny Avengers #12 from Cable and X-Force!

One of the big reasons I’m sharing this story is because celebrated artist Salvador Larroca (X-Men, Invincible Iron Man and currently Cable and X-Force) is joining the September issue focusing on Kang the Conqueror. Larroca is one of my all-time favorite artists who been innovative. Here’s just one cover from his X-Treme X-Men run with Chris Claremont.
