Justice League Movie Villain Rumor

Who else could it be!

There’s a big rumor about the villain that will unite DC’s biggest heroes in a Justice League movie. According to Latino Review Warner Brothers will have Darkseid as the villain for the big screen battle.

Darkseid is a God-like being from a dark dimension, rules planet Apokalips and armies of evil warriors (Parademons, Female Furies, Kalibak, Desaad.)

Darkseid was the first villain to The New 52 Justice League fought and his invasion was the key that united the heroes.

Thanks to Spinoff Online. This is just a rumor.

My Op/Ed:

Maxwell Lord in The Omac Project courtesy DC Comics

I still think the smarter, cooler direction is to have a Superman/Batman team-up against Lex Luthor and Ra’s Al Ghul as the super villains try to tap into The Source of extradimensional power. Diana (not Wonder Woman yet) is a warrior woman trying to warn the outside world of the invading force (Darkseid) that is a legend among the Amazons. Bruce, Clark, and Diana fail. Lex and Ra’s unleash Darkseid.

The Superman/Batman team-up movie leads into the Justice League’s big showdown against Darkseid and his invading forces.

I’m also a big fan of Maxwell Lord from The Omac Project but I guess if you’re competing with a Titan (Thanos in The Avengers sequel) you have to go big with your biggest villains – you don’t get bigger than Darkseid!

Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Batman in Justice League Movie?

Justice League #1 DC Comics, Art by Jim Lee

Will Joseph Gordon-Levitt join the Justice League?

In Christopher Nolan’s final Batman film it appeared Gordon-Levitt’s character John Blake (Robin) could be assuming the role of the Dark Knight in Gotham City.

Warner Brothers is moving forward with a Justice League movie. Man of Steel director Zach Snyder has hinted that Henry Cavill could reprise his Superman role in a Justice League film. Nolan produced the Man of Steel.

HitFlix reports that Gordon-Levitt has already signed a deal to play Batman in the Justice League movie.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has had an amazing year (The Dark Knight Rises, Looper, Lincoln) and I watch the guy reading a phone book in a movie. Still no word on which other DC heroes would appear in the Justice League film.

Superman Gone Wild!

Justice League #14 courtesy DC Comics

The Man of Steel goes wild with cat scratch fever (technically it was a bite)in the Congo in this week’s Justice League #14 courtesy DC Comics. Geoff Johns and guest artist Tony Daniel gave a classic campy villainess a savage New 52 debut in the previous issue.

After last week ‘s attack Superman has turned against his team, the search for Barbara Minerva reaches a new dead but the Justice League may find new allies to stop the Goddess of the Hunt’s warpath.

Tony Daniel will be taking over Action Comics (with writer Andy Diggle) so this is a perfect opportunity to see how he will handle the Man of Steel. Daniel really shines with this Wonder Woman and his ferocious take on the Cheetah!

Batman and Justice League for Halloween?

I grew up in a small town with no little options for Halloween. I lucked out and found a Darth Vader costume and wore it year after year. I was a tall kid so I worked it! Last year I was Green Lantern – Ryan Reynolds, watch out!

DC Comics heroes are icons that will never go away! With the success of The Dark Knight Rises, the Superman reboot on the way and the possibility of a Justice League movie it’s never been a better time to suit up as a member of the Justice League for Halloween!

The newer Batman is always a dark neo-classic and there’s even a nearly $400.00 dollar Dark Knight outfit  that might attract the purrfect Catwoman at your holiday party!  You could go a little more gosh darn wholesome and for the retro Batman look of the Adam West series.

Enjoy your Halloween! Be safe!

Cat Fight in Justice League #13

Love Bites! Wonder Woman’s romantic kiss with Superman is interrupted by the bite of a classic villainess reborn!

The Cheetah roars and rips her away into DC Comics The New 52 this week in Justice League #13. Superman and Wonder Woman’s passionate kiss from last issue leads a hero left alone but the attraction is still burning when they reunite later in the Watchtower.

The real stars of this issue are the Cheetah, Wonder Woman and Tony Daniel! The Batman/Detective Comics writer creates a savage showdown between the Amazon and her friend turned mortal enemy in Central Park. The title splash page should be a poster on the walls of Diana worshipping geeks. By the end of the issue the team is in the Congo tracking down the villainess when she attacks and Geoff Johns leaves us with a savage cliffhanger. Johns and Daniel transformed a villain with a silly past into a badass with a ferocious future!

Writer Jeff Lemire joins Johns on the backup story with Steve Trevor drinking after being dumped romantically by Wonder Woman and professionally by the Justice League. The appearance of another hero sets the stage for Trevor’s comeback in Justice League of America #1 coming soon.

Justice League Faces New Villain

Justice League #13 courtesy DC Comics

The Cheetah attacks in this week’s Justice League #13 with guest artist Tony Daniel. The recent Detective Comics writer/artist teams with Geoff Johns to reintroduce this infamous Wonder Woman enemy to DC Comics The New 52. The Cheetah’s roaring reintroduction in Justice League #13 is part of the buildup to The Trinity War.

“I’m thrilled and honored to again work with Geoff Johns on this JUSTICE LEAGUE arc,” Daniel told THE SOURCE. “It’s going to be a lot of fun and I can’t wait to work on my favorite characters. JUSTICE LEAGUE is the first book I pull because of the big stories and the great Jim Lee art inside. I’m very happy that I get a chance to focus all my energy on making my best artwork for Geoff and the fans of JUSTICE LEAGUE.”

“Tony and I will be re-introducing one of DC’s iconic villains – the Cheetah – and uncovering her mysterious connection to Wonder Woman and the Justice League,” added Johns. “For me, the Cheetah is up there with Black Manta, Sinestro and Captain Cold as one of the most iconic villains in the DC Universe, and she’ll become a major villainous force in 2012 and beyond. The fallout from JUSTICE LEAGUE #12 starts here as we head towards next year’s TRINITY WAR.”

Justice League #13 arrives this week. Tony Daniel will join Andy Diggle on Action Comics in 2013.

Armie Hammer as Batman?

Justice League #1 DC Comics, Art by Jim Lee

Rumor or real?

Will Armie Hammer (The Social Network, The Lone Ranger) play Batman in a potential Justice League movie? Moviehole.net reports that Hammer is a top contender to play the caped crusader in a film about the DC Comics super group.

Hammer was cast as Batman in George Miller’s Justice League of America project that never got off the ground. Hammer’s star was skyrocketed since then and he’s reportedly on the radar to wear the Batsuit.

If this turns out to be true it likely means no potential Dark Knight continuation with Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a new Batman or Nightwing.

This is speculation but Hammer is a good choice for Justice League but I just see him as Aquaman.

Superman & Wonder Embrace in Space!

Justice League #12 courtesy DC Comics

Superman and Wonder Woman finally expressed their love and shared a kiss in Justice League #12. Buzzfeed shared Jim Lee’s cover for the reprint of the future classic issue in which DC’s most powerful man and woman declared their love and began their super-romance. The second printing of Justice League #12 arrives this Wednesday.

Is this a signal that Kal-El and Diana will keep their romance a secret from the world and other heroes?
