Avengers vs Thanos in INFINITY

Jonathan Hickman assembled a bigger roster of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes! Now the universe’s most powerful villain is gunning for them!

Infinity will be a six-part event by Hickman with artists Jim Cheung, Jerome Opena and Dustin Weaver according to USA Today.

“The universe’s greatest serial killer is cut loose to do bad things to our most precious world,” said Hickman.

Hickman has been planning for this cosmic clash in his Avengers and New Avengers series. I was excited to learn Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will get backup from the Inhumans.

“They’re not like a team of superheroes. They’re a demographic — being an Inhuman is like being Cuban, like being Irish,” Avengers Editor Tom Brevoort says. “Within that strata, there are good guys and bad guys and bystanders and guys who just want to do their job and go home and drink an Inhuman Löwenbräu and kick back.”

Earlier this year Marvel teased Infinity for this year’s Free Comic Book Day issue

This is a huge week for fans of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes by Jonathan Hickman. Avengers is his big team book starring your favorites and exiting new additions to the roster like Shang-Chi, Cannonball, Sunspot plus brand new versions of Captain Universe, Smasher and Hyperion. The action of the new series started on Mars with the introduction of three new aliens who wanted to transform Earth – even if it killed everyone already living on it – and now the threat comes from a different universe – a New Universe!?!

You don’t need to know about Nightmask, Starbrand and Marvel’s short-lived line of comics from back in the day. Just know that Hickman has unleashed some thrilling Continue reading AVENGERS Worlds Collide!

Jonathan Hickman just created the most dangerous hero in the Marvel Universe in this week’s Avengers #7.

More dangerous than Hulk. More than Thor. More than The Sentry.

Hickman is transforming what would call a failed experiment from the 1980’s and turning into a fascinating, thrilling storyline for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes that will shake the foundation of Universe 616.

You don’t need to know your comic book history to enjoy the current storyline but if do remember the New Universe then it adds layers of intrigue and awe to see what Hickman if crafting.

Universes are dying. Tony Stark with the ominous Continue reading AVENGERS Meet Earth’s Most Dangerous Hero

Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are uncovering clues to a cosmic mystery and discovering the secrets of their newest member in this week’s Avengers #6 by Jonathan Hickman and Adam Kubert.

Here’s what you need to know if you haven’t been reading: Steve Rogers and Tony Stark realized the Avengers needed to get bigger to battle bigger threats on a global and galactic scale. The team confronted a mysterious trio of strangers on Mars who wanted to scorch and rebuild Earth. When the team is captured Steve “woke the world” and the new recruits (including Sunspot, Cannonball, Shang-Chi, Hyperion and a brand new Smasher) answered the call but it was the new Captain Universe that turned the tide.

Let’s talk about what I loved in this week’s chapter:

1. New kids on the block:

I’m excited that Cannonball and Sunspot have graduated from New Mutants to Avengers. There’s a classic showdown… Continue reading AVENGERS: Captain Universe Revealed!

Thanos. Hickman. Cheung.

Thanos is the big purple bad at the end of The Avengers movie.

Jonathan Hickman (Avengers, New Avengers) is the mastermind of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Jim Cheung (Avengers vs. X-Men, Young Avengers) is the artist (one of my personal favorites) that can fill panels with big screen action.

Marvel is teasing a cosmic clash with Fantastic Four, Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men, Avengers, Inhumans, Spider-Man and more against the universe’s ultimate threat!

New Avengers #3 courtesy Marvel

Professor Xavier is dead but the X-Men founder is back in New Avengers #3. The new series by Jonathan Hickman and Steve Epting stars a new version of Marvel’s biggest brains – the Illuminati. The late Charles Xavier was a member of the original gathering of Marvel’s most powerful leaders. The new brotherhood is gathering the Infinity Gems in an effort to stop alternate universes from crushing ours.

Is this a secret the telepath buried in the Beast’s mind or is Henry McCoy engaging in more time travel like he did in the first arc of All-New X-Men? (Just in case you missed it – Beast brought back the original five X-Men into the present Marvel Now!)

I wanted to share some of this Comics Newsarama exclusive preview of the next issue.

As the pages reveal – the Professor has left a trail for Beast to follow. Could this be the key to saving the Earth? Could this lead to the resurrection of Professor X?
