I think would buy a comic with art by Jim Lee even if he’s drawing a whiteout snowstorm. Jim Lee’s return to a monthly comic is one of the biggest reasons I’m buying the new Justice League title.
Jim Lee’s art drew me in…Geoff Johns dynamic storytelling will keep on board when Lee moves to covers only. This happened before when Lee was recruited to Batman with Jeph Loeb for the year-long Hush storyline. I became hooked on Loeb’s writing and followed him to the Superman/Batman title and my comic book budget was blown. History is repeating itself.
Justice League #7 will mean a new arc and a new interior artist. Gene Ha takes over while Lee continues providing covers. Johns and Ha talked exclusively with Comic Book Resources about building the new team and the new enemies.
“I’ll say this: the big point of the story was introducing the new character dynamics between the main members of the Justice League, so I got to have a lot of fun with how they react to each other and things like that. But the other part of this story is setting up the new villain universe. There’s a lot of really subtle stuff going on there. I’ll just say that I’m not doing the next issue of the book, but oh man — I really wish I was. Something fantastic is being set up for that,” Ha said.
My first time seeing Gene Ha’s work was on The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix. This was a story in which Scott and Jean were transported into Cable’s future to raise the young mutant who would lead the future rebellion against Apocalypse.
If you’d never experienced Jim Lee’s work on Hush here’s a link.
