Empire has a grip on mutant goodies from X-Men: Day of Future Past. In the aftermath of the magazine’s 25 cover reveals – here are 4 new shots from the upcoming film.

The Bryan Singer directed sequel/prequel unites the cast of X-Men: First Class with stars from the first trilogy. The story is based on the classic Chris Claremont story set in two time periods as mutants from a war-ravaged future attempt to rewrite their own history. Jennifer Lawrence Before THE HUNGER GAMES CATCHING FIRE

The Hunger Games Cast Tour in Seattle

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens this week.  Jennifer Lawrence reprises her role as Katniss Everdeen, who is forced to compete in deadly new games of former champions (including Josh Hutcherson back at Peeta.)

Before global success of The Hunger Games, before winning an Oscar for Best Actress for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, Lawrence and her leading men (Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth) came to Seattle on The Hunger Games Tour.  I remember young fans erupting into a frenzy like tributes arriving in the Capitol.

I wanted to share part of that interview again. Most of the young fans were on Team Gale or Team Peeta. I asked Lawrence about the relationship between Katniss and Cinna, the stylist who becomes her mentor. While filming X-Men: First Class Lawrence (who played Raven/Mystique) became friends with co-star Zoe Kravitz (who played Angel) and developed a friendship with her dad, rock star Lenny Kravitz. She explained that helped their on-screen rapport:

Kravitz returns as Cinna to prepare Katniss and Peeta for the Hunger Games Quarter Quell as the new District 12 champions must fight for their lives again against former winners.

Lawrence reprises her role as Mystique in X-Men: Days of Future Past coming in May, 2014.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens Friday. The third book in Suzanne Collins’ best-selling trilogy, Mockingjay, will be split into two final films.

The Oscar golden girl goes blue again in X-Men Days of Future Past. Jennifer Lawrence reprises her role as mutant shapeshifter Mystique and tells SciFiNow bluntly:

“I’m naked,” says the star. “But when I do get to wear clothes, I love the ’70s outfits.”

The sequel is set 10 years after X-Men: First Class. Continue reading Jennifer Lawrence on X-MEN DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Nudity

The Oscar winning golden girl is back in blue as Mystique in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Jennifer Lawrence reprises her role as the shapeshifting mutant who shift loyalties from Professor X to Magneto in X-Men: First Class.

From this shot Raven is as agile as ever using her entire body as a weapon. Looks like Lawrence is using some of the skills she developed dancing in Silver Linings Playbook.

Director Bryan Singer shared (via Twitter) this shot of the shapeshifter getting a leg up on her victim. In the classic Chris Claremont story in which the film is based, Mystique (Raven Darkholme) is the leader of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. The X-Men must prevent the assassination of a Senator which will lead to a dark, dystopian future ruled by Sentinels. The giant, mutant hunting robots are the products of Trask Industries.

Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence is back in blue on the set of X-Men Days of Future Past. Director Bryan Singer shared this first look of the actress in makeup as Mystique via Twitter.

In X-Men: First Class Raven was a childhood friend of Charles Xavier who flirted with Beast (Nicholas Hoult) but eventually fell in love with Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and joined his Brotherhood of Mutants.

In the classic comic book storyline that’s the inspiration for the upcoming sequel – Mystique is leader of the Brotherhood plotting to assassinate a Senator. The killing will lead to a dark Continue reading Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique in X-Men Days of Future Past

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Wish List!

Uncanny X-Men #141 courtesy Marvel.com

Director Bryan Singer keeps delivering Uncanny casting news! Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore and Ellen Page are reprising their roles in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Stars from the original three films will join stars of X-Men: First Class  including Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence.

The film will be based on the classic storyline in which mutants from the future try to change the past.

My geeky brain starting thinking of what else would make this sequel even more Astonishing X-fans! Here are 8 wishes:

X1 Hugh Jackman leading the real Last Stand! In the classic Days of Future Past storyline Logan leads the underground resistance in a future North America ruled by Sentinels. Magneto, Storm, Colossus and Kitty Pryde (now Kate Rasputin) are the only surviving X-Men. The heroes eventually break out of their concentration camp and join Logan on a suicide raid on Sentinel headquarters. Hugh Jackman is set to return so he could play the aging Logan on his last mission.

X2  Rachel Summers! The daughter of Scott and Jean is the key to the story. Rachel is telepathic and telekinetic like her mother and uses her psionic powers to send Kate’s mind into the present day body of a younger Kitty Pryde who must convince the X-Men to prevent an assassination that will lead to this dark future. Bryce Dallas Howard (yes I know she’s already been in a Spidey movie) would be perfect as tragic daughter of Scott and Jean. Rachel was forced to be a “Hound” and track down fellow mutants. In the comic books Rachel escaped the future and went into the past became the new Phoenix and joined the X-Men. She currently teaches as the Jean Grey School.

X3  Franklin Richards! The last surviving member of the Fantastic Four is in love with Rachel. The son of Reed and Susan Storm Richards is in the camp with the surviving X-Men and I won’t reveal his final fate. Mark Millar’s new role as Creative Consultant for the Fox controlled Marvel franchises includes the upcoming reboot of Fantastic Four. This film could serve as a reboot point for both franchises similar to J.J. Abrams’s Star Trek.

X4  Kitty Pryde/Kate Rasputin! Ellen Page is back so will she play the future Kate? Kitty is married to Colossus (as it should be!) but agrees to have her mind travel into the past to rally the X-Men to stop a chain of events leading to the dark future.
