Gotham City Burns in New “The Dark Knight Rises” Poster

Tom Hardy as Bane watches as Gotham City is broken and in flames in a new poster for The Dark Knight Rises posted by Collider. The familiar tagline The Legend Ends accompanies the image. A good point made by the author that Michael Caine’s Alfred said of the Joker “some men just want to watch the world burn” in The Dark Knight. Maybe the legend ending is Gotham City – instead of Batman – and Bruce Wayne will rebuild.

Bruce Wayne’s urban renewal of Gotham City is part of Scott Snyder’s Batman run and made him a target of the Court of Owls. This image certainly adds to the theory that Christopher Nolan’s final Batman film may be based on the classic No Man’s Land epic.

I saw this cool image of Bane RISES painted across a Gotham City sewer lid on Facebook. Look closely to see how the artist uses the Batman logo for Bane’s eyes.

This is from The Fire Rises – a real time stragety game for The Dark Knight Rises. The message invites you to join Bane’s army, capture territory and join his uprising in Gotham City. You can also enjoy the moody chant from the movie trailers.

Batman #7 exposed a secret that cut into Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson’s alliance. It was another twist of the knife turned by the Court of Owls. This sinister society has been manipulating Gotham City for decades and is launching an all out war on Batman, his allies for control of Gotham.

The Night of the Owls prelude begins with this week’s Batman #8 and Nightwing #8. DC Comics offered a preview of Dick Grayson’s title by Kyle Higgins and Eddy Barrows. Can Nightwing save the Mayor from the Talon.

Love Hurts in “I, Vampire”

What’s not to love about I, Vampire from DC Comics The New 52? The vampire war has arrived in Gotham City. Joshuah Hale Fialkov tells The Source his book is not just a horror comic book.

“All great stories are love stories,” said Fialkov. “Sometimes they’re about two people in love, or two people falling out of love, or a man in love with vengeance, or, a man in love with Truth, Justice, and the American Way. All of the characters we love are motivated almost entirely by love.”

“So,” Fialkov continues, “it only made sense to write a book not just about a man and a woman in love, but, about them both being in love with abstract concepts that put them at odds with each other.

“Mary loves freedom, Andrew loves humanity… Up until now, their love for one another was enough to keep that imbalance in check, but, not anymore.”

I, Vampire #6 arrives Wednesday. The I, Vampire/Justice League Dark crossover begins in March.

Vampires Invade Gotham City

The Dark Knight is the talons of the Council of Owls in Batman. Now Bruce’s hometown has another enemy with sharp teeth to face. Vampires are taking their war to Gotham City. DC Comics revealed on The Source that Andrew Bennett and the Queen of Blood are coming to Batman’s town in I, Vampire.

“Up until now, we’ve been telling a story that’s very insular, and the vampires have struck and run. Well, in issue 5 that ends. Now they come face to face with the Batman, and it’s not going to end well for anyone. Plus, doesn’t Batman have those friends who call themselves the Justice League Dark?” teased writer Joshua Hale Fialkov.

The I, Vampire, Justice League Dark crossover begins in March.
