ResurrXion marks a rebirth for the X-Men books in 2017. Marvel announced new titles starring Iceman, Jean Grey, Cable, Weapon X, Generation X and two flagship books: X-Men Gold, X-Men Blue.

If the news has your feeling nostalgic for more ’90’s excitement we’re with you. After all Blue and Gold teams were the stars of the first X-Men #1 by the legendary team of Chris Claremont and Jim Lee and Uncanny X-Men #281 by Claremont and Whilce Portacio.

If was the age of a new mutant genesis, Claremont brought all the long lost X-Men and their allies together and launched the first “second” X-Men book. Fans also welcome a new X-Factor (a government backed mutant team) by Peter David, New Mutants become X-Force and Excalibur by Claremont and Alan Davis merged X-Men and Marvel UK heroes into a new team. As the 1990’s continued Scott Lobdell joined and co-created Generation XCable, Bishop and Gambit scored solo books, Age of Apocalypse was born leading to the introduction of X-Man.

As the mutants experience a rebirth next year, we can’t help but hope for a return of more mutants, books and teams. Here are our more mutant books for your consideration: Continue reading More X-MEN ResurrXion Books For Your Consideration

WONDER WOMAN Writer Confirms DIANA Is QUEER

Wonder Woman joins the pantheon of LGBTQ comic book heroes after 75 years in print.

The Amazon Princess is known for romantically being involved with Steve Trevor and fell in love with Superman in The New 52 era.

Acclaimed writer Greg Rucka is back on the Wonder Woman title and says it’s “logical” that Diana is “queer.”

As part of DC Comics Rebirth, Rucka returned to write Diana with two stories and two artists.

Rucka and Nicola Scott are crafting a Year One story showing Diana’s origin with her journey from the mythical island of Themyscira to the modern world.

Rucka and Liam Sharp are telling a story called The Lies, as Diana teams up with archenemy Cheetah to save Steve Trevor and find her way home.

As the iconic hero celebrates her 75th year, Rucka is confirming that Diana is a queer character in a new interview with Comicosity. As the writer explains, Diana’s identity is tied to the concept of her island home.

“It’s supposed to be a paradise. You’re supposed to be able to live happily. You’re supposed to be able – in a context where one can live happily, and part of what an individual needs for that happiness is to have to have a partner – to have a fulfilling, romantic and sexual relationship. And the only options are women.

But an Amazon doesn’t look at another Amazon and say, “You’re gay.” They don’t. The concept doesn’t exist. Continue reading WONDER WOMAN Writer Confirms DIANA Is QUEER

A junior X-Man jumps up the front burner in Amazing X-Men #13 this week.

As part of Pride Month 2014 (in which we celebrate gay visibility in part) where are the GLBT characters in the All-New Marvel Now

Young Avengers won a GLAAD Media Award earlier this year. The Astonishing X-Men issue featuring Northstar’s wedding was a big seller. Those are the most high-profile gay heroes of the Marvel heroes.

Northstar (Jean-Paul Baubier) married Kyle Jinadu 2 years ago. After Astonishing X-Men came to an end, Northstar returned to the Jean Grey School in Amazing X-Men to join the Quest for Nightcrawler.  We haven’t really seen Kyle so we must assume he’s running Jean-Paul’s businesses while Northstar helps Wolverine, Storm and Beast battle demons, monsters and anti-mutant hate groups. The new creative team and storyline took Logan back to Canada (Northstar’s home, too) so we might expect to see Jean-Paul stay in the action as the X-Men team up with Alpha Flight.

Evil mutants, Age of Apocalypse X-Men, journeys to Hell and book cancellations can’t stop this marriage.

It’s GLBT Pride Month, a time to celebrate victories and visibility of gay, lesbian and transgender. When it comes to visibility – an X-Man getting married to a man in New York City and on the cover of a major Marvel comic is big.

Pride 2014 is a time to celebrate the second wedding Anniversary of Northstar and Kyle Jinadu! It was nearly two years ago the X-Man married in Astonishing X-Men #51. Continue reading X-MEN GAY WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
