Zach Snyder’s Superman Compared to Nolan’s Batman

Henry Cavill on the set of The Man of Steel

Huge praise for The Man of Steel Director and leading man from the actor who gets to ooze Kryptonian evil on-screen. Michael Shannon plays General Zod in the new Superman film. In an interview with The Playlist the actor compared Zach Snyder to Martin Scorsese, saying Snyder’s reboot is “edgy in a way like when Nolan took over the Batman franchise.”

“Henry [Cavill] is a fantastic Superman, he’s got a little edge to him and he’s smart, clever and I had fun working with him,” Shannon added. “I think Zack is the master stylist, visually, I mean he’s up there with Scorsese in my book in terms of visual composition, orchestration, etc.”

A huge compliment sure to heighten already huge expectations.

Superman versus General Zod in The Man of Steel won’t happen until June of 2013 but actor Michael Shannon says that’s all most people want to talk to him about. This role will mark Shannon’s first venture into the fan crazed world. The Boardwalk Empire star tells Hero Complex he’s baffled by the Comic-Con culture.

“There are legions of fans salivating, who will literally spend the next year and a half looking at the clock, waiting for this movie,” Shannon said, shrugging his shoulders. “That’s just the way it is. I don’t know why. Me, personally, I’m not a huge fan. I can’t even read comic books. I don’t know which panel to look at next. I hardly ever know what any of the characters are talking about. So, no, I am not one of them. But there are a lot of them. They’re out there. And they really want to talk to me about this movie!”
