Iceman is getting his own solo comic book Marvel revealed via Twitter with a cover showing the X-Man’s 50 year history.

Iceman #1 was announced for Spring 2017 with the previously teased ResurrXion, which appears to be the follow-up event to Inhumans vs. X-Men.

This is the first new title announced with the mysterious ResurrXion banner.

This is the first ongoing title to star original X-Man Bobby Drake.

Two versions of Iceman exist in the Marvel Universe. Both came out of the closet during the Brian Michael Bendis run in which Beast brought the original five X-Men into the present.

Young Bobby from the past was “outed” by psychic Jean Grey. Bobby later confronted his older adult self about his lifetime in the closet. Iceman is now the most prominent LGBT Marvel character.

Young Bobby is currently part of the All-New X-Men and recently sparks flew between him and a young gay Inhuman. Older Drake is part of Storm’s Extraordinary X-Men team. Continue reading ICEMAN Solo Book With RESURRXION

Iceman is out and in two big new X-books this month.

Earlier this year, young Bobby Drake came out to young Jean Grey. Young Iceman stars in All-New X-Men while the adult Drake is part of Jeff Lemire’s Extraordinary X-Men team.

The genetic crisis affecting the mutant race is priority but Bobby’s personal life is still on top o of readers minds. While answering fan questions on X-Position, Lemire confirmed Drake’s sexuality will be part of the story and another gay hero will join the cast. Continue reading OUT ICEMEN in X-MEN

One of the biggest surprises of the year in comics so far is the coming out of original X-Man Bobby Drake. Or was he forced out?

Bobby Drake was called out by Jean Grey in All-New X-Men #40. The teen telepath saw the truth in young Iceman’s mind.

Justified or invasion of privacy?

Right or wrong?

What does writer Brian Michael Bendis say about the story now that some time has passed and how will it impact the final issues of his X-Men run? Continue reading BENDIS On Outing ICEMAN

The man who plays the Hulk is weighing on the outing of an X-Man.

It was just a week ago (not counting the leak a few days prior) that young Bobby Drake came out (or was he outed) in All-New X-Men #44 by Brian Michael Bendis.

Young Jean Grey read Iceman’s mind and confronted him on his sexist comments about female teammates saying he was overcompensation because he’s gay. Bobby and Jean eventually bonded and he did confess to her but wondered why his old self isn’t gay – or is he?

While readers, religious leaders and GLBT activists have sounded off on the story development actor Mark Ruffalo of Avengers: Age of Ultron has made his support clear. Continue reading MARK RUFFALO On X-MAN COMING OUT

OUT X-MEN & MORE GAY MARVEL HEROES

The closet door opens wider as a fan-favorite mutant comes out in All-New X-Men #40.

Pages of the issue were leaked online but we’re choosing not to show them or reveal the details of who comes out or how it happens so you can read it yourself if you choose.

While the issue was promoted as a return of former X-base Utopia, the big story was at the New Xavier School.

This week’s revelation by writer Brian Michael Bendis reminds us how the X-Men have long been a reflection of diversity and makes us question where are these Marvel’s GLBT heroes now? Continue reading OUT X-MEN & MORE GAY MARVEL HEROES

A junior X-Man jumps up the front burner in Amazing X-Men #13 this week.

“Anole’s deepest fears are unleashed on the streets of New York City”  in this tale by James Tynion IV (Batman Eternal).

Nightcrawler and Northstar attempt to save Victor. This marks a reunion between Anole and his mentor Northstar – two of the openly gay Marvel characters.

Anole was part of Northstar’s Alpha Squadron. Jean-Luc and Victor made a connection because of the orientation. Victor and Kurt share a connection because of their appearances due to their mutation. Continue reading From Junior to AMAZING X-MAN

The most important soldier in the mutant vs. human conflict may have been revealed in Uncanny X-Men #14 this week.

While I love the action packed, game-changing crossover Battle of the Atom, along comes an issue like this focused on character development with great humor and heart that makes you remember what the X-Men are truly all about. Continue reading X-Man Comes Out As Gay
