Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones, Conan) is in talks to join the Man of Steel sequel featuring the showdown between Superman (Henry Cavill) and Batman (Ben Affleck) according to The Hollywood Reporter.
After playing Khal Drogo in Games of Thrones and Conan, Momoa has the build and can unleash the ferocity to play Doomsday, the Kryptonian made monster who killed Kal-El in the classic storyline Death of Superman. Continue reading Jason Momoa Joins SUPERMAN BATMAN Movie?
Marvel recruited Game Of Thrones director Alan Taylor to take the hammer (or more like director’s megaphone) from Kenneth Branaugh as the Asgardian Avenger returns for his next solo movie. Taylor took a different visual approach when making Thor: The Dark World.
My geek dreams shift towards a Man of Steel meets The Dark Knight film instead of a full-blown Justice League movie. I’m even more convinced after reading Batman/Superman #1 in comic book shops now that a meeting of DC’s two biggest icons is the way to go.
Christian Bale has once again confirmed he will not play Batman again so who should play the Dark Knight in a team-up with Superman or Justice League movie? Christopher Nolan’s final Dark Knight film opened up the possibility of Joseph Gordon-Levitt becoming Gotham City’s new Dark Knight. I love JGL and I’d enjoy seeing a Nightwing movie so I’m going with a brand new actor in the role.
Here are my picks for the next Batman:
Ryan GoslingThe obvious, no-brainer choice. He can play slick and charming as Bruce (as seen in Ides of March, Crazy Stupid Love) and intense and violent (Drive, The Gangster Squad.) Gosling has the edge and almost sinister charm (like Sean Connery in his early 007 films) in every role. I’m in conflict with my myself – Gosling is my top pick for Marvel’s potential Daredevil reboot – may the best studio win. Fans will win with such a talented actor like Gosling in any superhero role.
Charlie HunnamThe Sons of Anarchy star’s star could explode this summer in Pacific Rim. The talented actor can play the conflicted but violent anti-hero with a menacing gruff voice as seen on Sons of Anarchy. If Pacific Rim is a hit for Warner Brothers they could see Hunnam as a leading man to bring new energy to the Dark Knight.
Richard Madden My wild card pick. Madden had the charisma and intensity to become King of the North and inspire a war on Game of Thrones. I’m still in angry mourning for Robb Stark!
The Two That Could Have Been:
Armie Hammer was picked by George Miller for his potential Justice League movie and I could definitely see the towering actor in the role it’s likely Hammer will ride again in a sequel to The Lone Ranger.
Michael Fassbender– I LOVE him as Magneto and would never want to go back in time and erase cinematic history but can’t you see Fassbender as Bruce Wayne?!
The One That Won’t Happen But…
Viggo Mortensen as Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns
You don’t have to go to Westeros to see dragons! Seattle’s EMP Museum invites you to their latest exhibit Fantasy: Worlds of Myth and Magic featuring elements from The Hobbit, The Wizard of Oz and The Princess Bride to Harry Potter and Snow White and the Huntsman. You can take off on a fantastical journey to discover the inspiration behind this genre’s most magnificent creations.
See iconic costumes from television and the big screen including The Wizard of Oz, Xena: Warrior Princess, Labyrinth, and The Princess Bride; pet a dragon designed by Seattle Opera; sit atop the Iron Throne from HBO’s Game of Thrones; and witness original hand-edited manuscript pages from J.R.R Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
Now about that dragon…Of the 902 name ideas submitted 10 were selected and put to a public vote. EMP presented Adalinda, scaly guardian of the gallery!
Built by Seattle Opera Scenic Studios, Adalinda’s head is approximately six-feet-long and her “bite” would be slightly bigger than that of a great white shark. Her claws have a grasp of 18 inches, her tail is about the length of an adult saltwater crocodile, and if she were to spread her wings they would stretch to more than 36 feet.
The Opening Night party gave excited fans a first look at the collection, meet Knights in shining armor, enjoy a taste of cider, grog or meed and a photo op on the Iron Throne from Game of Thrones.
Fantasy: Worlds of Myth and Magic is now open at Seattle’s EMP Museum! While you’re there don’t miss Icons of Science Fiction and Can’t Look Away: The Lure of the Horror Film.
New interviews with the man who wields the hammer and the man who wields the power in the Marvel cinematic universe plus new images from Thor: The Dark World.
In the sequel the Thunder God (Chris Hemsworth) reconnects with Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and will battle the Dark Elves led by Malekith (Christopher Eccleston.) USA Today scored these two new pictures from the film plus an update from Marvel Studios Kevin Feige and Hemsworth.
Thor and Jane seem happy in this first photo. The scientist was not part of The Avengers but it seems the Odinson found a way to reunite with his great love from Midgard but expect romantic rumblings:
“Thor still has lot of explaining to do, and a lot of making up,” Hemsworth said. “Even demigods end up in the doghouse, mate. So none of us is safe.”
“So while Thor was a fish out of water on Earth in the first two films, this time Jane is very much a fish out of water in Asgard,” Feige said.
“We were worried about coming across as hokey or whatever,” Hemsworth said. “If there is anyone who can pull off a fantastical world like Asgard with a great amount of integrity, it is Alan Taylor, as we’ve seen in Game of Thrones.”
“It’s superhero action, but it’s the familiar territory of a love triangle where the parents think your girlfriend is wrong for you,” Feige said. “That’s how the best of these movies work.”
Loki (Tom Hiddleston) Lady Sif and the Warriors Three (with Zachary Levi taking over for one of them) are all back for the sequel that will rock the Nine Realms this November!
