The WONDER WOMAN comic book is getting a new writer. G. Willow Wilson of the Emerald City is taking on Diana of Themyscira.
DC Comics revealed Wilson will be the new WONDER WOMAN writer. DC publisher Dan DiDio’s surprised fans on DC All Access. Marvel Comics’ Ms. Marvel, by writer G. Willow Wilson of Seattle and artist Adrian Alphona, won the second annual Dwayne McDuffie Award for Diversity in Comics, presented at Long Beach Comic Expo in Long Beach, California.
The breakout character has become a fan-favorite and rookie member of the Avengers.
Wilson praised Ms. Marvel fans in an impassioned acceptance speech graciously thanking readers who make the book a success.
“This award is very special to me, not just because of its connection to Dwayne, but because of what it represents…it is something being kept alive by one thing only and that is the readers and the fans whose passion, whose cosplay, whose wonderful repartee on Tumblr and Twitter make this book such a joy to work on.”

The Seattle event celebrating the role of women in geek culture will have its inaugural fashion show, on Saturday October 10th at 8pm.

Seattle based writer G. Willow Wilson (Ms. Marvel) and Seattle publisher Fantagraphics Books are among this year’s nominees for the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards, the Oscars of comics.
Ms. Marvel from Marvel, Multiversity from DC Comics, Saga from Image Comics, Bandette from Monkeybrain are the books leading with three or more nominations each. Marvel, DC and Fantagraphics tied for the most nominations overall with 18 each.
Wilson introduced Kamala Khan, the first Muslim superhero to be the lead of her own mainstream comic book title to critical acclaim and huge sales. The teen is one of the new Inhumans of the Marvel Universe who took the former code-name of her hero Carol Danvers when the Avenger was promoted to Captain Marvel. The A-Force will assemble this summer as Secret Wars leads to an all-female Avengers squad. Marvel announced G. Willow Wilson and Marguerite Bennett will co-write the upcoming team book starring She-Hulk, Dazzler, Medusa, Nico Minoru and more fan-favorites.
An all-female Avengers book is significant so I reached out to the author who literally wrote the books on female superheroes.
In The Supergirls: Fashion, Feminism and the History of Comic Book Heroines, Mike Madrid traced the legacy of female heroes and influence on pop culture. Madrid then took us back to rediscover Divas, Dames and Daredevils: Lost Heroines of The Golden Age and Vixens, Vamps and Vipers: Lost Villainesses of The Golden Age.

Marvel announced its first all-female Avengers team on The View and via Mashable.
The roster will be She-Hulk, Dazzler, Medusa, Nico Minoru and others including a new superhero: a cosmically powered woman named Singularity.
A-Force will be co-written by Marvel exclusive writer G. Willow Wilson (Ms. Marvel) and Marguerite Bennett (Angela: Asgard’s Assassin, Lois Lane one-shot) with veteran X-Men artist Jorge Molina.
