Rick Remender has teased a team of enemies born from Omega Red and shopping mall for assassins in the sky. I suspect this will be another violent, game changing epic like The Dark Angel Saga – definitely watch this series.

Partnered with the Black Widow, they are the “Mr. and Mrs. Smith of the Marvel Universe” according to writer Ed Brubaker. The Seattle writer spins new adventures of Marvel’s hottest spies as they team up to take out awakened ex-Russian sleeper agents.

Fatale #2

This is a potent brew of crime noir and supernatural horror. Two men in two time periods chasing down the same woman. Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips create dueling time crossed mysteries with the impeding dread that a poor bastard is inching closer to a demonic end.

Batman: The Gates of Gotham trade paperback

Batman assembles some of greatest detectives in the DC Universe when a mystery as old as Gotham City challenges the Dark Knight. Batman soon learns the dark history of Gotham’s past and sins of its most famous families – including the Waynes. Scott Snyder and Kyle Higgins

Assassins Creed: After the Fall trade paperback

Based on the killer video game this story follows the Russian assassin in a race against the Templars to claim a powerful artifact.

If you enjoy Ed Brubaker’s super hero work on Captain America, Daredevil, X-Men, Catwoman but never tried his crime noir (Criminal: The Sinners, Lawless, and more collections) take a shot with Fatale #1 new in stores this week. Brubaker teams with Sean Phillips for this new series that takes the duo into strange new territory.

A funeral, a mysterious vamp that would make might make Hitchcock and Hammett blush, cult symbols, a Nazi flashback and some very gruesome killings are elements in this potent mix of crime noir and supernatural horror.

This is an old Hollywood flavored mystery with stakes that aren’t just a matter of life and death but it could mean salvation. There’s a dark magic in this book and I’m hooked.

Wolverine and the X-Men: Alpha and Omega #1

Logan’s X-Men survived the attack on the new mutant school but can they defeat an enemy within? Kid Omega challenges Wolverine for dominance of the school and a fan favorite mutants is caught in the crossfire. Writer Brian Wood returns to Marvel for this clash of the mutants. Logan may be the best there is when it comes to a physical brawl but how will he defeat an omega level telepath?

Uncanny X-Force 19.1

Spinning out of the Dark Angel Saga Finale, The Age of Apocalypse version of X-Men make a last stand against Weapon X and meet this dimension’s new heroes, the X-Terminated. Rick Remember sets the bloody stage for a new ongoing Age of Apocalyple #1 debuting later this year.

The modern masters of crime comics introduce a new blend of horror and noir. Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips throw what looks likes some Lovecraftian terror into the story of a woman on the run, a mobster that may be a demon, and the men caught in their endless struggle.
