MEDUSA! MEDUSA! MEDUSA!

I LOVE this character. She’s my favorite Marvel redhead (after Jean Grey!) (Sorry MJ!)

The new FF series by Matt Fraction and Mike Allred is one of the most unusual and fun series you can enjoy. Medusa, Ant-Man, She-Hulk and Miss Thing were only supposed to be the substitute Four for four minutes but these “replacements” Continue reading Medusa Mystery of FF

Fantastic Four! Reed’s Secret Exposed!

“Great Caesar’s Ghost!”

Maybe it’s a little weird to borrow a line from a DC character to describe a Marvel comic but it’s appropriate!

Matt Fraction and Mark Bagley’s adventure with Marvel’s First Family goes into the past and right to the heart of Marvel’s super couple. In this week’s Fantastic Four #5 Susan and Reed need some “Mommy-Daddy Time” so Ben and Johnny takes Franklin and Valeria into a living history lesson in ancient Rome.

In a hilarious hybrid of Brady Bunch and Doctor Who, Ben, Johnny and the kids encounter an alien and twisted Continue reading Fantastic Four! Reed’s Secret Exposed!

The mind behind the mashups Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter is getting a shot at Marvel’s First Family. Author and screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith is polishing up the script for the Fantastic Four reboot for Fox according to The Hollywood Reporter Heat Vision. Josh Trank (Chronicle) is directing. Mark Miller recently revealed Matthew Vaughn (director of X-Men: First Class, Kick-Ass) has been brought on board as a producer.

The story says the script will have a “grounded superhero and sci-fi approach and tap deep into the comics mythology” and possibly include Continue reading Mashup Mastermind on FANTASTIC FOUR Script

Matthew Vaughn is moving from the Children of the Atom to Marvel’s First Family as producer of the Fantastic Four reboot!

Fox’s Marvel Movie Mastermind Mark Millar shared the news via Twitter that the director of X-Men: First Class will produce the FF reboot to be directed by Josh Trank (Chronicle.)

Fox hold the film rights to Marvel’s X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises. Millar was hired as the Creative Consultant to the properties. Vaughn is producing X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Here’s my theory:

I think the seeds of the FF reboot will be Continue reading Matthew Vaughn Producing FANTASTIC FOUR Reboot

Avengers Arena #1 courtesy Marvel

Avengers Arena #1 Sixteen superpowered teens (including members of Runaways, Avengers Academy) wake up on an island with an ultimatum: fight or die! Cable and X-Force #1 The son of Cyclops is back with a brand new team. Why have these mutant heroes been branded terrorists?

Fantastic Four #2 Marvel’s First Family blasts off across time and space. Can Reed keep the real motivation for this family vacation hidden from Susan? What new threats are waiting for them?

Space 1999: Aftershock and Awe A disaster blasts the moon out of orbit and across space. The crew of Moonbase Alpha will face outrageous aliens as they try to find a way home. I was a huge fan of this classic sci-fi series from the swinging 70’s but I didn’t know there was a comic book series. This trade paperback collects new stories of the crew of Moonbase Alpha.

Finding Fantastic Four Replacements

Fantastic Four #2 courtesy Marvel

Matt Fraction and Mark Bagley launched Fantastic Four #1 with heart, humor and thrills. Reed is taking Marvel’s First Family on a new adventure through time and space but he’s hiding the real reason behind the sudden trip – and it’s a heartbreaker.

Before Reed, Sue, Johnny, Ben and the kids blast off they must recruit a new FF to take their place. Marvel shared preview art for this week’s Fantastic Four #2.  Medusa, She-Hulk, Ant-Man and She-Thing are taking over for Reed, Sue, Ben and Johnny in a brand new FF title by Fraction and Mike Allred. This next issue shows us how Reed recruited his “replacements.”

Fantastic Four #2 courtesy Marvel

I’ve always been in love with Medusa. She may be my favorite redhead in comics (maybe after Jean Grey?) The Queen of the Inhumans will be a perfect mother figure for the kids of the Future Foundation.

Fantastic Four #2 courtesy Marvel

I  ‘m loving She-Hulk and Ben Grimm pumping iron! Jennifer served as Ben’s replacement back in the John Byrne era.

Fantastic Four #2 courtesy Marvel

Ant-Man (Scott Lang) may be the one friend Reed can share his secret with? The two men share a bond of science and being fathers. Scott could find the key to cure Reed somewhere in the microverse?

Fantastic Future For the FF

FF #1 courtesy Marvel

It’s a new beginning for the Future Foundation in this week’s FF#1 by Matt Fraction and Mike Allred.

Here’s what you need to know: Reed Richards created the Future Foundation to help shape the world’s most brilliant young minds (including mutants, aliens and clones) into the leaders of a brighter future. Reed is taking his family on a vacation into uncharted time and space. (The real reason behind the journey is far more heartbreaking.)

FF #1 is a recruitment drive for new heroes to be the world’s new Fantastic Four while Marvel’s First Family ventures to unknown worlds. Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben recruit their replacements in clever scenes that offer great interactions and logical reasons why these new four have been chosen. Between those scenes Fraction has the extended family of FF kids explain the Foundation to their new leader.

FF #1 courtey Marvel

The human and hilarious storytelling tell you everything you need and gives you compelling reasons why should join the FF. Mike and Laura Allred’s pop art styles really convey the wonder, hope and fun in every panel. Ant-Man, Medusa, She-Hulk and the future Ms.Thing may be replacements but I think they’ll win a prime space in the hearts of comic book fans soon!
