What a week for comic book fans. I have so many favorites I’m expanding from 5 to a top 10 new comic book picks for this week:

 

Deadly Class #2 High school is already hell but imagine a high school for students trying to master deadly arts? Rick Remender and Wesley Craig’s twisted Image series takes us on a new kid’s first day where cutting class could get your killed. FANTASTIC FOUR VILLAIN VISIONS

Fox is injecting youth into its Fantastic Four reboot. Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell are reportedly the studio’s choices for Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben.

 

Josh Trank (Chronicle) is directing what is likely to be a modern take that doesn’t remain completely faithful to the source.

FANTASTIC FOUR #2 Fallen Heroes…in Red

Marvel shared a look inside Fantastic Four #2. Writer James Robinson and artist Leonard Kirk are new team on Marvel’s First Family. Reed, Sue, Ben and Johnny are sporting red instead of their signature blue as the new series blasts off.

 

Robinson has said he’s plotting the Fall of the Fantastic Four and this second issue shows the Richards family may have paid the price for saving New York City from alien invaders.

What a gorgeous Marvel gathering on what might be the cover of the week!

 

It’s the end of an era this week with Fantastic Four #16 –  the final issues of the series and the final issues (along with FF #16) of Editor Tom Brevoort’s run with Marvel’s First Family.

 

These January finales are the end of Brevoort’s 14o+ issues as editor.

From DOCTOR WHO to FANTASTIC FOUR?

After pulling myself together after watching The Time of the Doctor I had an inspiration: Matt Smith as Reed Richards?

 

Yes, we’ll work on the hair but…

 

While looking back at the Eleventh Doctor era I kept seeing Smith as the leader of Marvel’s First Family. If you look at Matt Smith’s first Doctor Who episode The Eleventh Hour you can see his shyness and vulnerability when asking Amy Pond to be his companion for adventures in time and space.
