Greetings from Fan Expo Vancouver!

An amazing first day at Vancouver’s first major comicon! The Canadian city is in the heart of majestic mountains. Fan Expo Vancover is at the convention centre on the waterfront. It looks like Asgard on Earth – a perfect setting for Thor!

Adam West & Burt Ward (TV’s Batman & Robin) are big attractions along with their famous Batmobile. Many costumed fans – including a few Batmen – waited for the photo op with the famous ride!

I had the opportunity to interview the legendary Len Wein and Whilce Portacio, stay tuned for more. One of my favorite non-panel panels was the sketch duels – 3 artists, 1 hour, great conversation between creators and fans. Round 1 was Mike Choi, Georges Jeanty and Stephen Sadowski. Mystique won Sadowski’s Aquaman sketch! Tony Daniel, Whilce Portacio and Yanick Paquette were round 2 – the fans challenge – draw Harley Quinn with the character of your choice! Tomorrow is Esad Ribic vs. Tim Bradstreet.

Fan Expo Vancouver Inspires “Alpha Flight” Memories!

 As I head north from Seattle to British Columbia for Fan Expo Vancouver I’m remembering one of my favorite books – Alpha Flight by John Byrne!

  The Canadian super team debuted in Uncanny X-Men #120 in 1979 on a mission to bring back Weapon X aka Wolverine home. Byrne’s 28 issue run is great storytelling blending elements of magic, mutants, aliens and amazing science.

  Vancouver is hosting its first major comicon so I hope to see some Alpha Flight showing their pride in costume. I would especially love to see Snowbird – one of my characters on the team.

Rachel Nichols at Fan Expo Vancouver

She was “Scarlett” in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and Green as a Orion who hooks up with Chris Pine’s Kirk in Star Trek. Rachel Nichols has just been added to Fan Expo Vancouver, the city’s first major comicon. Nichols appears on Continuum and I remember loving her as a rookie spy on the final season of Alias.

 

Fan Expo Vancouver Schedule Revealed

  Fan Expo Vancouver is the first major comicon for Vancouver, British Columbia. The expo has created up a stellar lineup of movie, television, comic book and anime stars for fans.

   The media guest list includes: Adam West & Burt Robin – TV’s Batman & Robin , Marina Sirtis, Michael Dorn & John DeLancie of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Kristin Bauer of True Blood, Michael Hogan & Aaron Douglas of Battlestar Galatica, Lou Ferrigno of The Incredible Hulk and many more.

  Comic Book guests include Len Wein, Mike Choi, Tony Daniel, Esad Ribic, Stuart & Kathryn Immonen, Greg Rucka and many more.

Here’s the just released schedule so you can plan when and where to score your celebrity autographs, attend a variety of cool panels and more.

  I’m really excited to see the sketch duels where favorite comic book artists going ‘pen to pen’ producing original art up for auction when they’re duel is done.

Saturday at 1pm featuirng Georges Jeanty vs. Mike Choi vs. Stephen Sadowski.

2pm see Tony Daniel vs. Yanick Paquette vs. Whilce Portacio.

Sunday at 3pm it’s Esad Ribin vs. Tim Bradstreet.

Marvel’s Immonens at Fan Expo Vancouver

  Fan Expo Vancouver will unite all fans of comics, gaming, anime, horror, and sci-fi. Fan Expo Canada is coming to Vancouver, British Columbia April 21st and 22nd.

  I just made my plans to attend the big event just a new hours north of my home in Seattle.Great news to make you geek out: the expo added Marvel penciller Stuart (Avengers, Fear Itself) and writer Kathryn Immonen (Pixie Strikes Back, Wolverine and Jubilee, )to the guest list. The Immonens will work together on AvX Vs #1

True Blood’s Sassiest Vamp in Vancouver

 

  I’m thrilled to share that Kristin Bauer (Pam de Beaufort of True Blood) will be appearing at Fan Expo Vancouver April 21st and 22nd. I will definitely try to make the short trip from my home with some of my fellow Seattle True Blood fans to Vancouver, British Columbia for a chance to meet Bauer – hope she wears pink!
