Josh Helman has joined the cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past according to The Wrap. The Australian actor (Home and Away, The Pacific, Jack Reacher) co-starred with Nicholas Hoult (who reprises his X-role as Hank McCoy aka Beast) in Mad Max: Fury Road.
Hugh Jackman returns as the fan favorite X-Man in The Wolverine and will reprise the role again X-Men: Days of Future Past for Bryan Singer. Director James Mangold tells SFX how the films connect:
X-Men Days of Future Past will now open Memorial Day Weekend in 2014. Fox moved the sequel from July to May 23, 2014.
Bryan Singer is currently directing the film featuring cast members from the original X-Men films and X-Men: First Class. The director confirmed the move on Twitter.
Here’s a previous picture from Singer showing Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy (Beast) and Hugh Jackman on the set of the film – set in the 1970’s.
Magneto’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants strikes? Director Bryan Singer shared a new set photo via Twitter from X-Men Days of Future Past. The new photo shows what looks like a political rally with a White House memo referring to an incident in Paris.
“Today we face the gravest threat in our history…
What the world saw in Paris was not an isolated incident.”
The film is based on the classic story involving future and past X-Men trying to stop the assassination of a Senator which leads to a dark future in which mutants are hunted to near extinction.
The Master of Magnetism rises again! Director Bryan Singer revealed a first look at Michael Fassbender as Magneto on the set of X-Men: Days of Future Past via Twitter.
The sequel is set in 1973 and based on the classic comic book epic by Chris Claremont in which X-Men from the future try to change the past. The casts of X-Men: First Class and the original X-Men trilogy will appear in this film so Sir Ian McKellen is the film as Magneto.
It sure looks like Fassbender is on the set of what could be Professor Xavier’s School.
The Cuban Missile Crisis was interweaved with the struggle for mutant rights in X-Men: First Class. The Cold War and spread of Communism will be part of the drama of X-Men Days of Future Past. Director Bryan Singer revealed two photos via Twitter from the set of the upcoming sequel that help set for tone for the setting – 1973.
The first picture shows an actor playing President Richard Nixon in the Oval Office with the caption “Pivotal meeting” and the second includes “GOOD MORNING VIETNAM!!!”
The “Pivotal meeting” could be real history or comic book history – this could be the meeting in which the U.S. government initiates Project Wideawake and begins the creation of the Sentinels – mutant hunting robots!
X-Men Days of Future Past will take place in 1974 and in the near future and arrives in 2014.
The cast of the original X-Men trilogy (including Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry) join the X-Men: First Class cast (James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence) for X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Director Bryan Singer teases why the next X-Men film is the most exciting yet and the category of sequel or prequel doesn’t quite describe it.
