True Blood star Joe Manganiello is rumored be among the front-runners to play the Dark Knight opposite Henry Cavill in a Superman/Batman movie.

The on-screen team-up looks like it will be a clash of titans before an alliance of heroes with inspiration from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns.

A battle between the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight is just fine with Manganiello if he gets the role. Continue reading TRUE BLOOD Star Wants FIGHT CLUB of Superhero Movies

Who Should Play BATMAN Updated

Now that we know the Man of Steel will meet The Dark Knight on the big screen in 2015 I thought it was time to revise and re-share who should be the next actor to play Batman.

The Warner Brothers presentation at San Diego Comic Con used a classic quote from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns:

“I want you to remember, Clark, in all the years to come, in all your most private moments, I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you.”

Director Zach Snyder said they’re not making the classic graphic novel into a movie “but it will help us tell you something.”

Looks like Superman vs. Batman is on!

Superman will meet the Dark Knight for the first time on the big screen! Warner Brothers announced the Man of Steel sequel will be a Superman/Batman team-up at San Diego Comic Con.

Henry Cavill will return as Kal-El with a new actor to be cast as Batman. As for the story well this might give you a BIG hint:

Actor Harry Lennox (Man of Steel) read the following from The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller:

“I want you to remember, Clark, in all the years to come, in all your most private moments, I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you.” Continue reading Superman/Batman Movie Announced!

One of Batman’s fiercest foes seizes the spotlight!

Bane was the main villain of The New 52 relaunch of Batman: The Dark Knight title and now he stars in his own Villains Month one-shot as DC Comics Editor Bob Harras teases Arkham War and the return of the artist who co-created Bane!

“Spinning out of the events of FOREVER EVIL, FOREVER EVIL:
ARKHAM WAR finds the inmates of both Arkham Asylum and Blackgate Prison unleashed upon a Batman-less Gotham City. But before you pick up that
mini-series, you’ll want to read the Villains Month one-shots starring Scarecrow Continue reading Bane Leads ARKHAM WAR

Who Should Play BATMAN Next?

My geek dreams shift towards a Man of Steel meets The Dark Knight film instead of a full-blown Justice League movie. I’m even more convinced after reading Batman/Superman #1 in comic book shops now that a meeting of DC’s two biggest icons is the way to go.

Christian Bale has once again confirmed he will not play Batman again so who should play the Dark Knight in a team-up with Superman or Justice League movie? Christopher Nolan’s final Dark Knight film opened up the possibility of Joseph Gordon-Levitt becoming Gotham City’s new Dark Knight. I love JGL and I’d enjoy seeing a Nightwing movie so I’m going with a brand new actor in the role.

Here are my picks for the next Batman:

Ryan Gosling The obvious, no-brainer choice. He can play slick and charming as Bruce (as seen in Ides of March, Crazy Stupid Love) and intense and violent (Drive, The Gangster Squad.) Gosling has the edge and almost sinister charm (like Sean Connery in his early 007 films) in every role.  I’m in conflict with my myself – Gosling is my top pick for Marvel’s potential Daredevil reboot – may the best studio win. Fans will win with such a talented actor like Gosling in any superhero role.

Charlie Hunnam The Sons of Anarchy star’s star could explode this summer in Pacific Rim. The talented actor can play the conflicted but violent anti-hero with a menacing gruff voice as seen on Sons of Anarchy. If Pacific Rim is a hit for Warner Brothers they could see Hunnam as a leading man to bring new energy to the Dark Knight.

Richard Madden My wild card pick. Madden had the charisma and intensity to become King of the North and inspire a war on Game of Thrones. I’m still in angry mourning for Robb Stark!

The Two That Could Have Been:

Armie Hammer was picked by George Miller for his potential Justice League movie and I could definitely see the towering actor in the role it’s likely Hammer will ride again in a sequel to The Lone Ranger.

Michael Fassbender – I LOVE him as Magneto and would never want to go back in time and erase cinematic history but can’t you see Fassbender as Bruce Wayne?!

The One That Won’t Happen But…

Viggo Mortensen as Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns

What do you think?

The smashing success of Man of Steel could determine the big screen future of a team-up with the Dark Knight or the Justice League but you don’t have to wait too much longer to see Kal and Bruce!

DC‘s two most iconic heroes team up in a brand new Batman/Superman series by Greg Pak and Jae Lee out Wednesday. This will be the definitive story of how Bruce and Clark first met in The New 52. Pak reveals the timing of the series:

“Our story takes place around the time of Grant Morrison’s Action Comics #1. So it takes place when both of these guys are very young and very new to the whole superhero thing,” Pak told MTV GEEK .

“We’re going to have this fantastic opportunity to see how these very young guys view each other. Imagine finding out for the first time about some guy who runs around in a bat costume fighting crime or some guy with these insane powers doing the same thing. Each hero’s reaction to the other is going to surprise folks a little bit, because they’re both so new. Their reactions to each other are going to be a lot more dangerous than you’re used to thinking about when you think about Batman and Superman.”
