Iron Fist unleashed.

Marvel unveiled the first trailer for the next Marvel/Netflix collaboration at New York City Comicon and revealed a major sci-fi icon is joining the cast of The Defenders.

First the trailer –

Finn Jones plays Danny Rand in Iron Fist, the final new series before Marvel Netflix heroes, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage will team up as The Defenders.

Rand is an American orphan adopted by mentors in the mystical city of K’un L’un where he grows up to become a martial arts master and gain the power of the Iron Fist. In the comics Iron Fist teamed up with Luke Cage (aka Power Man) as the Heroes for Hire. But that’s another Netflix series (fingers crossed!)

LUKE CAGE, IRON FIST And DEFENDERS Video Teasers

Marvel and Netflix shared first looks at their new series Marvel’s Luke Cage and Marvel’s Iron Fist and a teaser for Marvel’s Defenders at San Diego Comic Con.

Spinning off Marvel’s Jessica Jones, Mike Colter returns as Cage in his own series.

“After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable Cage becomes a fugitive who attempts to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But soon he is pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city – forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.”

Finn Jones will play Danny Rand, billionaire orphan raised in a mystical city who returns to reclaim his life and fight crime as Iron Fist. FINN JONES Officially IRON FIST

Marvel makes it official:

Finn Jones will star as Danny Rand in Marvel’s Iron Fist, the fourth collaboration between Marvel and Netflix which will lead to a team-up series with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist called The Defenders.

In comics Rand travels with his family to the mystical city of K’un L’un where he is adopted by the city’s ruler and trained in martial arts and gains the power of the Iron Fist. Rand goes back to America to reclaim his family’s empire and start a career as a costumed hero. Iron Fist became best friends and partners with Luke Cage in Heroes for Hire.

According to the official series description: Daniel Rand, who returns to New York City after being missing for years. He fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

“Danny Rand is a very complicated character. Finn Jones has been cast as Danny Rand in the Marvel Netflix Iron Fist series according to EW. The upcoming series along with others starring Daredevil, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones will lead to a team-up Defenders limited series.

As a boy, Danny joined his parents on a search for the mystical city of K’un L’un in the Himalayas. The tragic expedition led to Danny being raised by the city’s leader where he grew up to be a martial arts master and wielder of the mystical force (the Iron Fist) which allows him to summon and focus his chi. POWER MAN & IRON FIST Reunion

Power Man & Iron Fist are back together again, sharing adventures and a comic book title. Earlier this week Marvel announced David Walker and Sanford Greene as the team for the new book coming in 2016.

Both characters starred in solo books but when the Heroes-For-Hire came together in one book they became a hit and fan-favorite duo. Each hero took different paths but both ended up in New Avengers.

Iron Fist: The Living Weapon, Volume One: Rage hits this week collecting the first six issues of the acclaimed comeback of Danny Rand.

Artist Kaare Andrews returned to comics from directing films to relaunch Danny Rand in a new kung fu revenge epic.

Andrews is writing, drawing, inking, and creating covers. In an earlier interview the creator what drew him to Rand:

IRON FIST is kicking his way into a major comeback.

 

Danny Rand’s solo series by Kaare Andrews begins this week and the martial arts master will star in a new Marvel/Netflix series.
