London has a major role in the new James Bond film Skyfall. Director Sam Mendes, Daniel Craig and Dame Judi Dench discuss filming in the iconic city in a new videoblog courtesy 007.com.
“Bond opens a few doors,” Craig explains about the access the crew received.
“Sam and I wanted to make it British,” Craig reveals, “and it’s not some flag waving thing that either one of us is interested in…it’s just about basing Bond in Britain.”
Take a look:
Skyfall is set in England, Scotland, China and Turkey. Skyfall opens November, 2012.
James Bond shares the new poster for Skyfall with his two leading ladies (Severine, Eve) and the villain (Silva.) Daniel Craig, Berenice Marlohe, Javier Bardem and Naomie Harris are featued in the poster for UK theatres. Each character will receive their own poster too. Bardem’s creepy blonde character has been in my head since seeing the trailer. He reminds me so much of Red Grant (played by the brilliant Robert Shaw) in From Russia, With Love. Who is Silva? I suspect he may be one of the deep cover MI6 agents exposed by M’s misteps as seen in the trailer. I have this idea in my head that perhaps Silva has gone blonde to model himself after Bond?
James Bond is dead….long live James Bond. Daniel Craig returns as 007 in Skyfall. The trailer for the new 007 film is live. Bond is assassinated by one of his own under orders from M but as Ian Fleming wrote “you only live twice.”
Here’s what we know: M (Dame Judi Dench) loses a drive containing covert agents in terrorist organizations. Eve (Naomie Harris) is ordered to “take the shot” killing Bond. Ralph Fiennes is a government agent cleaning up the mess made by M. Javier Bardem plays the villain Silva who says “mommy was very bad.” Both men appear to want to make M pay for her sins.
Berenice Marlohe’s Severine works for Silva. And we met Q (Ben Wishaw) and he’s just a kid but what a cool delivery, “less of a random killing machine…more of a personal statement.”
Director Sam Mendes and Daniel Craig have said Skyfall echoes the Sean Connery 1960’s Bond films. I definitely get a From Russia, With Love vibe but with a modern, faster pace from this trailer. Silva reminds me of a Red Grant (Robert Shaw) but much more powerful and crazier with a touch of Hannibal Lecter. Bardem kills it and steals the show!
It may be a teaser for a trailer and wow does it deliver! In the Skyfall teaser we learn about M’s past coming back to haunt her. Mallory (Ralph Fiennes) in a cool tone confronts M (Dame Judi Dench) over losing a disc with the “identity of every covert agent embedded in terrorist organization across the globe.”
During that dialogue you see 007 (Daniel Craig) is the agent who lost it and then he’s on top of a train. M orders “take the bloody shot” and as assasin shoots James Bond on a moving train and he falls.
…And I freaked out! The trailer arrives tomorrow. Skyfall opens this November.

James Bond is more than an action hero. 007 is a style icon. The costume designer for Skyfall reveals how she worked with Daniel Craig and fashion designer Tom Ford to give Bond a modern edge in this new videoblog. This latest video from 007.com reveals Craig on location of the Shanghai set sets and in action in the streets of London.
Alas, I could never look that flattering in that cool suite with all the designers in the world.

The first trailer for the new James Bond film is online! Daniel Craig returns as 007 in Skyfall this November.
We see Bond being interrogated while M (Judi Dench) and Ralph Fiennes watch. It reminded me of the test for replicants in Blade Runner. When the word “Skyfall” is given Bond says “done” and leaves.
The trailer builds with a slow burn revealing more hints of the story. We see shots of the Shanghai skyline, the London underground and what I think is Scotland. As for characters you can see a silhouette of the mystery woman Severine played by Berenice Marlohe, a quick shot of Naomie Harris as Eve giving Craig a shave. There is one shot of a man walking away from a burning building at night. I assume that is Javier Bardem as the villain.
One haunting image is several coffins covered by the British flag and the shot pans out to show M. Perhaps this is a key moment in story. Producers have said 007’s mission in this film is related to a mistake in M’s past coming back to haunt her.
After a final burst of action the trailer with James Bond announcing: “Some men are coming to kill us. We’re gonna kill them first.”
