New monsters, old enemies, trusted allies and the Twelfth Doctor taking Clara “into darkness” are part of the fast-paced, minute long trailer for the new season of Doctor Who from BBC.

Peter Capaldi is the new Time Lord with companion Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) not sure who he really is anymore.

Daleks, dinosaurs, cyborgs and new aliens are showcased along with the return of Madama Vastra, Jenny and Strax.

A fan filled celebration of an adventure in time and space! Hundreds of Whovians packed the EMP Museum in Seattle for the Doctor Who Celebration. The iconic science fiction television series is celebrating its 50th Anniversary.

The BBC’s global broadcast of The Day of the Doctor 50th Anniversary special hit the U.S. West Coast around lunchtime so Pacific Northwest Whovians had plenty of time to get their best scarf, bow-tie, fez or stone makeup and journey to the pop culture showcase in Seattle. Two weeks until the Super Bowl of Sci-Fi when The Day of the Doctor 50th Anniversary Special takes over planet Earth!

Here’s the second trailer courtesy BBC America featuring the three Time Lords, the return of Rose Tyler (Billie Piper) and what looks to me like are apocalyptic scenes of the Great Time War between the Time Lord and the Daleks!

Doctor Who: David, Rose, Martha and Donna

The new Doctor Who evolution blasted off with David Tennant taking over the role. Steely yet cheeky. Tennant’s Time Lord could be a powerhouse menace against any invader who dared to threaten Earth or tear our hearts out as he crumbled over the loss of a loved one (like a companion or genetically created daughter.)

In Season Two Rose Tyler (Billie Piper) continued her journeys with the Doctor until the heartbreaking goodbye after a Dalek/Cybermen conflict in Doomsday.  Dr. Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman) would pine away for the Doctor for one season before Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) matched wits with Tennant for the final season. Tennant and Tate were an amazing team with perfect comic timing – essential for a Time Lord!

One of my favorite Doctor and Rose adventures was Continue reading Doctor Who: David, Rose, Martha and Donna

courtesy BBC

It’s official! BBC America announced the new season of Doctor Who will return September 1st with 5 new episodes. It’s the final farewell of companions Amy and Rory – sigh – and the return of the Daleks and Weeping Angels – yeah!

Here’s the official announcement including episode details.

Lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat on the new season: “We have, I think, our biggest range of stories EVER. We’ve got the return of the Daleks AND the Weeping Angels – both of them poll-topping “Doctor Who” adversaries – in cracking new stories, we’ve got Dinosaurs on a Spaceship (it’s what you’ve always wanted), we’ve got a glorious western with a Cyborg Gunslinger, the most unusual invasion Earth story EVER, and location shooting in New York for the Pond finale.”

In the season opener, “Asylum of the Daleks,” the Doctor is forced on an impossible mission after being kidnapped by his oldest foe – to a place even the Daleks are too terrified to enter…. the Asylum. A planetary prison confining the most terrifying and insane of their kind, the Doctor and the Ponds must find an escape route. But with Amy and Rory’s relationship in meltdown, and an army of mad Daleks closing in, it is up to the Doctor to save their lives, as well as the Pond’s marriage.”

  Here’s a new trailer:

The Doctor gets a Stetson (and a gun), and finds himself the reluctant Sheriff of a Western town under siege by a relentless cyborg, who goes by the name of, the Gunslinger. Ridley Scott on Blade Runner Sequel and The Daleks

Prometheus courtesy 20th Century Fox

Ridley Scott’s return to science fiction is almost here. Prometheus goes back into the Alien universe. Imagine Scott having a creative hand in the making of another sci-fi icon – the Daleks?

Scott worked in the BBC design department where he would have designed Doctor Who’s arch enemies – if not for a scheduling conflict – according to a new interview with The Independent.

Scott is returning to his other sci-fi classic. The director’s next project is a sequel to Blade Runner but don’t expect Harrison Ford as the lead reprising Rick Deckard but don’t rule out an appearance.”I don’t think it’ll be Harry [starring]. But I’ve got to have him in it somewhere. That’d be amusing.”

For the entire interview here’s the link. I highly recommend – very insightful on Scott’s career and future.
