Ahead of the upcoming Captain America: Civil WarEmpire issue, Marvel revealed a first look at villain Crossbones, the identity of Martin Freeman’s character and more photos from the super sequel.
Writer Nathan Edmondson launched the new series starring two of the deadliest anti-heroes in the Marvel Universe.
This week Natasha Romanoff and Frank Castle’s separate missions bring them together in a two-part crossover.
Will the Widow and Punisher clash when they collide?
Friend From Foe story kicks off in Black Widow #9.
“Frank and Natasha are a really interesting pair to combine together: on the one hand, they seem to exist in the same kind of heroic/antiheroic space in the Marvel Universe, but at some point the similarities stop and the disparity begins, and the tug and pull between those two ends will be at play here,” Edmondson told Marvel.com. Chris Evans is back as Steve Rogers in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Frank Grillo joins the cinematic Marvel Universe as Brock Rumlow who comic books fans know as Crossbones. You saw Grillo in the elevator action scene in the latest trailer. From this new interview it looks like Rumlow will be a big part of the movie but will he become the masked super villain?
I can’t wait to see the Star-Spangled Avenger battle Crossbones on the big screen! Frank Grillo has been cast at Crossbones in Captain America: The Winter Soldier according to Variety.
In the comic books the henchman is not just a bruiser. Crossbones was critical in the assassination of Steve Rogers. Crossbones (Brock Lumlow) is the lover of Sin, daughter of the Red Skull. No word yet on if the Red Skull or Sin will appear in the sequel.
Sebastian Stan will reprise will role as Bucky Barnes who returns as brainwashed assassin – The Winter Soldier.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier opens April 4, 2014.
I am loving Fear Itself: The Fearless and the latest chapter only pumped up my enthusiasm for this series. Valkyrie has gone rogue with the Avengers in pursuit. The Asgardian warrior woman is racing around the world against the evil forces of Sin to recover the mystical weapons in the aftermath of Fear Itself.
This series is a showcase for one of the most underrated characters in the Marvel Universe. The writers show Valkyrie in action against her own teammates, pivotal moments from her life in Asgard as Odin’s shieldmaiden and emotional moments on Earth during the Fear Itself crisis. I’m thrilled to see this character get the spotlight she deserves.
Cullen Bun is scripting from a story developed by Matt Fraction, Chris Yost and himself. Paul Pelletier and Mark Bagley provide the art while Arthur Adams continues to deliver one awesome cover after another of action and monsters.
This issue features the Avengers in what looks like a flashback from the X-Men Inferno epic, a bloody showdown between Wolverine and Crossbones, a huge betrayal and new alliance of evil.
I just can’t wait for what I hope is a Valkyrie/Sin throwdown. Teasers say Valkyrie will raid the X-Men’s home base next. You can browse all the issues so far at this Marvel.com link.
