Get ready to enter The Dark World this November with the God of Thunder. Marvel unveiled a new poster for Thor: The Dark World. Chris Hemsworth reprises his role as the Odinson. Anthony Hopkins is back as Odin. Natalie Portman returns as Jane Foster who is taken to Asgard in the sequel.
Thor faces Malekith (played by Christopher Eccleston) in the sequel and may need the help of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) to stop an invasion of the Dark Elves. I’m excited to see Lady Sif (Jaime Alexander) on the poster. The Asgardian warrior woman is said to have more screen time in the sequel. Continue reading THOR THE DARK WORLD New Poster
The God of Thunder strikes again this November in Thor: The Dark World! Chris Hemsworth reprises his role as the Avenger from Asgard. Marvel shared new pictures of the star on set and with director Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones.)
The first trailer for Thor: The Dark World has been revealed! The Thunder God (Chris Hemsworth) and Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) reunited. More Lady Sif. Odin’s ominous warnings. A first look at Christopher Eccleston as Malekith! Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor has given the golden Asgardian fantasy Continue reading THOR The Dark World Trailer!
New interviews with the man who wields the hammer and the man who wields the power in the Marvel cinematic universe plus new images from Thor: The Dark World.
In the sequel the Thunder God (Chris Hemsworth) reconnects with Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and will battle the Dark Elves led by Malekith (Christopher Eccleston.) USA Today scored these two new pictures from the film plus an update from Marvel Studios Kevin Feige and Hemsworth.
Thor and Jane seem happy in this first photo. The scientist was not part of The Avengers but it seems the Odinson found a way to reunite with his great love from Midgard but expect romantic rumblings:
“Thor still has lot of explaining to do, and a lot of making up,” Hemsworth said. “Even demigods end up in the doghouse, mate. So none of us is safe.”
“So while Thor was a fish out of water on Earth in the first two films, this time Jane is very much a fish out of water in Asgard,” Feige said.
“We were worried about coming across as hokey or whatever,” Hemsworth said. “If there is anyone who can pull off a fantastical world like Asgard with a great amount of integrity, it is Alan Taylor, as we’ve seen in Game of Thrones.”
“It’s superhero action, but it’s the familiar territory of a love triangle where the parents think your girlfriend is wrong for you,” Feige said. “That’s how the best of these movies work.”
Loki (Tom Hiddleston) Lady Sif and the Warriors Three (with Zachary Levi taking over for one of them) are all back for the sequel that will rock the Nine Realms this November!
Chris Hemsworth as the Odinson returns to Asgard in Thor: The Dark World. Marvel shared the first picture from the set of Hemsworth in costume with director Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones.) The sequel introduces the Malekith (played by former Doctor Who Christopher Eccleston) and the Dark Elves to the movie mythology. Here’s the official synopsis:
Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
Anne Hathaway (The Dark Knight Rises) is Steven Spielberg’s choice for the female lead in his film based on Robopocalypse according to Deadline. Chris Hemsworth (Thor, The Avengers) is playing the lead which in the book is named Cormac Wallace, leader of “Bright Boy” squadron.
Variety reports Ben Wishaw (the new Q in Skyfall) may join the cast as Lurker, the London computer hacker turned hero. Lurker’s cat and mouse game with the A.I. Archos is one of the creepiest and most suspenseful of the book to me. I’m already imagining what actor should voice Archos!
I love Daniel H. Wilson’s book about the robot uprising and humanity’s struggle to survive. I would love to see Hathaway and Hemsworth in any movie – I think they’ll have great chemistry – even in the aftermath of a robot apocalypse!
Christopher Eccleston is in final talks to play the villain in Thor: The Dark World for Marvel according to The Hollywood Reporter Heat Vision. Eccleston played the famous Time Lord when Doctor Who was relaunched in 2005 but for only one season. Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones) is directing the sequel with Chris Hemsworth back at Thor. The villain is said to Malekith, the king of the Dark Elves.
Since leaving the Tardis, Eccleston played Destro in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and guest starred on Heroes.
Madds Mikkelsen (Casino Royale) was in consideration but is out due to his commitment to play the Hannibal Lecter in a new NBC series based on the infamous connoisseur.
Chris Hemsworth may wish he had a magic hammer to defeat the enemies in this next film! Steven Spielberg wants the star of Thor and Marvel’s Avengers to play the lead in Robopocalypse according to Deadline.
The script by Drew Goddard is based on the book by Daniel H. Wilson is about humanity’s struggle to survive an apocalyptic uprising by robots and anything with a computer (even the cars turn against us!)
Hemsworth would play Cormac Wallace, the narrator of the story and leader of a battalion of human survivors fighting against Archos, the orchestrator of the robot uprising.
Opinion: I’m reading this book now and it’s like World War Z but with robots. I LOVE this book and think Hemsworth would be perfect as “Bright Boy.” Here’s an Amazon link for the book.
