Civil War II is far from over. No one can predict who or if there will really be a winner. But the epilogue is being written.

After the first Civil War, there was The Confession, two talks between Tony Stark and Steve Rogers. One after Captain America’s surrender. The other after Cap’s death with just Tony.

In the spirit of The ConfessionMarvel announced Civil War II: The Oath by Nick Spencer and Rod Reis. In the epilogue to the current superhero showdown, Captain Marvel and Iron Man turn to the friend they both trust most, Captain America.

But this isn’t the Steve Rogers they’ve known and trusted. It’s Steve Rogers, Hydra operative.

Nick Spencer is the writer responsible for the controversial change in Rogers and he will craft this important chapter following this summer’s big event.

A major Marvel icon was killed off in Civil War II #3.

The identity of the killer may be even more shocking.

The previous chapter ended with a cliffhanger. Ulysses (the new Inhuman with visions of the future) saw the Hulk killing several of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Carol Danvers was seen approaching Dr. Bruce Banner (who is free of the Hulk thanks to Amadeus Cho.)

The shock and awe continued this week with a shocking death from creators Brian Michael Bendis and David Marquez. How did we get here and why was this character marked for death?
