Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada revealed Sam Wilson will be the new Captain America on Comedy Central’s Colbert Report.

 

Steve Rogers recently had the Super Soldier Serum sucked out of his body by the Red Nail. Without the serum, Rogers is now a frail man in his 90’s.

 

Quesada revealed Rogers will reach out to his former sidekick to take over as the Sentinel of Liberty.

 

Sam Wilson is known as the Falcon. Wilson was created by Stan Lee and Gene Colan in 1969 and is the first African-America super hero in mainstream comics. Steve Rogers recently lost the Super Soldier Serum and now has the body of a man in his 90’s. Who will become the next Sentinel of Liberty?

The Odinson will apparently become Unworthy and a woman will wield the hammer and go by the name Thor in a new series in October.

Avengers and X-Men battle the Red Onslaught (the Red Skull armed with the powers of Professor X) in the event series AXIS by Rick Remender.

 

But this series will not be big enough to show the impact of the war against the Red Skull.

A big year for Bucky Barnes keeps getting more exciting for fans of the dark hero. After a killer comeback on the big screen in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and a critical role in Marvel’s big comics event Original Sin, Bucky will get a brand new solo series this Fall.

 

Bucky Barnes: The Winter Soldier #1 by Ales Kot (Secret Avengers, Zero) and Marco Rudy hits in October following the event of Original Sin according to the A.V. Club. Marvel teased an all-new Captain America. Today writer Rick Remender shares details on the new role for Steve Rogers and more on the hero who will carry the shield.

 

The Super Soldier Serum is out of Rogers body and he’s now a frail man who looks and feels his actual age. Rogers is physically weaker than ever while the Red Skull is more powerful than ever (after stealing Professor X’s brain in Uncanny Avengers.)

Original Sin is at the halfway mark but Marvel is plotting it’s next big event.

 

Avengers and X-Men AXIS sees Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and the Children of the Atom together against the mutated power of the Red Skull. The Captain America villain stole Professor Xavier’s brain and harnessed his telepathic powers in a new war on mutants in the early pages of Uncanny Avengers. From early promo art it appears Red Skull has united Marvel’s greatest villains.
