MARVEL Announces ROGUE ONE STAR WARS Prequel Comic at C2E2

Marvel sent Star Wars fans soaring in a Diamond Comics Retailer event during C2E2:

A prequel to a prequel.

The publisher announced a Rogue One three-part limited series and one-shot based on the upcoming spinoff: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story coming this Fall. No writers or artists were announced.

Gareth Edwards will direct the standalone film starring Felicity Jones, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Madds Mikkelsen and Alan Tudyk. GREG PAK On STORM Series

A new ongoing series starring Storm is one of the biggest announcements from C2E2. The X-Men leader gets her own book by Greg Pak (Hulk, Superman/Batman, Action Comics) and artist Victor Ibanez.

 

Storm is the first black female superhero. As Pak tells Marvel.com that legacy will be part of his storytelling.

X-Men Executive Editor Mike Marts explained 3 Months to Die will be in issues Wolverine #8- 12 by Paul Cornell, Kris Anka and Pete Woods.

MARVEL SPIDER-VERSE C2E2 Panel

Peter Parker is back in Amazing Spider-Man #1 this week. It’s just one of many Spidey projects spinning (Learning to Crawl, Original Sin, Infinite Comics, Spider-Verse) from Marvel. New details and teasers were revealed at the Spider-Verse C2E2 panel.

 

Dan Slott, Editor Nick Lowe, artist Ramon Perez were among the panel guests. Here are major highlights from the big Spidey book coming:

 
“Amazing Spider-Man immediately picks up with Superior left off and it is the start of something big! It introduces you to the villains in the story: Black Cat and Electro,” said Lowe.

Spider-Man will tie into Original Sin – the event series focusing on the murder of The Watcher and his greatest secrets stolen.

The publisher is bringing back the Young Guns initiative focusing on artists to watch. The All-New Young Guns are Sara Pichelli, Valerio Schiti, Nick Bradshaw, Mahmud Asrar and Ryan Stegman.

At C2E2 Marvel revealed The Last Will and Testament of Charles Xavier will be revealed as part of this summer’s Original Sin event. The Watcher’s murder will expose long hidden secrets rocking every corner and team of the Marvel Universe.

 

The schism between the X-Men pushed the Children of the Atom apart after the Professor’s murder at the hands of a Phoenix-possessed Cyclops in Avengers vs. X-Men. Now Xavier’s last will and testament will test his students even more. The story will appear in Uncanny X-Men #23 and #24 by Brian Michael Bendis with art by Chris Bachalo and Kris Anka. The X-Men 50th Anniversary event revealed: X-Men: Battle of the Atom introduces mutants from the future designed by Arthur Adams. Will Paul Cornell make Wolverine: Killable? A news packed Marvel X-Men panel at C2E2 in Chicago kicked off with more news about the dead X-Men and Avengers coming back in Uncanny Avengers.

X   The Apocalypse Twins will use the death seeds to resurrect The Sentry, Daken, Banshee and Grim Reaper as the Horsemen of Death. Rick Remender teased a big Thor vs. Sentry battle, Wolverine vs. Daken, Rogue vs. Grim Reaper and Havok vs. Banshee.

X   Red Skull (now with Xavier’s brain) will turn up in X-Men Legacy (now starring Legion, the Professor’s son.)

X  Wolverine and the X-Men #29 will be set 50 years in the future. Ramon Perez is leaving the book as artist.
