A powerhouse actress joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Queen of Wakanda.

Marvel announced Academy Award-nominated actress Angela Bassett has joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ Black Panther.

Bassett is a star of American Horror Story and veteran of sci-fi films Strange Days, Contact and played Dr. Amanda Waller in Green Lantern. Bassett was nominated for an Oscar for her portrayal of Tina Turner in What’s Love Got to Do with It. Continue reading ANGELA BASSETT Joins BLACK PANTHER

FOREST WHITAKER Joins BLACK PANTHER

An Oscar-winning star is joining the impressive roster of actors in Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther.”

Marvel announced Forest Whitaker has joined the cast of the standalone film picking up after T’Challa’s cinematic introduction in  “Captain America: Civil War.

Actors Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, and Florence Kasumba will join a lineup including Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa, ruler of Wakanda, and Michael B. Jordan as villain Erik Killmonger, plus Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia and Danai Gurira as Okoye, members of the fierce Dora Milaje.

Whitaker (“”Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” Roots,” Lee Daniels’ “The Butler,” “The Last King of Scotland”) will play the role of Zuri, an elder stateman in Wakanda. Whitaker appears in this year’s “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” as fringe Rebel leader Saw Gerrera, and he’ll be seen in “The Forgiven” as famed activist Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

Kasumba will reprise her “Captain America: Civil War” role as Ayo, a member of the Dora Milaje. Kaluuya (“Skins,” “Black Mirror,” “Sicario”) will play T’Challa confidant W’Kabi. Marvel unleashed a tidal wave of updates on their upcoming movies at San Diego Comic Con.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced the Oscar winner who will play Captain Marvel, the villain of the next Spidey movie plus Black Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy (Star-Lord’s father!) news and unveiled the new Doctor Strange trailer. Here we go:

RYAN COOGLER TO DIRECT MARVEL’S BLACK PANTHER

Marvel makes it official: Ryan Coogler will direct Black Panther.

The acclaimed director of Fruitvale Station and Creed will bring the first mainstream comic black super hero to the big screen.

After playing a central role as King of the Dead and The Illuminati in Jonathan Hickman’s New Avengers/Secret Wars epic, T’Challa returns to his Wakanda in a brand new series and officially joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

T’Challa and Namor are leading an assault on Doctor Doom in Secret Wars #9 finale in January and T’Challa is now a member of the new Ultimates.
