X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer teases two new mutants joining the cinematic Children of the Atom! In a Vine video via Twitter Singer shows chairs for characters like Magneto, Storm and all the returning characters plus two new ones: Bishop and James “Warpath” Proudstar!
This will likely increase speculation that Omar Cy is definitely playing Lucas Bishop, the X-Man from the future with energy projection powers who came back in time to prevent the horrific world he inherited. Bishop recently turned up as a villain in the new Uncanny X-Force.
This also means the new film will take story elements from two different comic book eras. The original Days of Future Past story by Chris Claremont in the 1980’s featured a group of X-Men in prison camps after Sentinels have slaughtered most of the world’s mutants. The survivors send one of their own in the past to prevent a single act that leads to this dark future.
Bishop was introduced in the 1990’s as a member of the X.S.E. (Xavier Security Enforcers.) Lucas Bishop was a mutant cop who tracked down evil mutants in the future who was pulled back in time while pursuing the villain Trevor Fitzroy and was trapped in the past with the X-Men who inspired him.
