It’s a huge New Comic Book Wednesday with big DC Rebirth issues arriving so we’re going to double down on our new comics picks of the week.

Here’s part one with a dream team behind DC’s biggest team:

Justice League #1

The Extinction Machine begins. Earth shakes as an ancient evil is revived to reclaim the world and beyond. Will Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and Flash accept a Superman they aren’t sure they can trust? Are two new rookie Green Lanterns ready for the big League? Comic book giants Bryan Hitch and Tony Daniel launch a new era for DC’s biggest team.

Batgirl & The Birds of Prey: Rebirth #1

Who is Oracle? Batgirl and Black Canary together again to uncover the mystery villain who’s claimed Barbara Gordon’s former code-name and discovered Barbara’s secret life as Oracle. Are Babs and Dinah on a collision course with the Huntress. Helena Bertinelli is out of Spyral and under the hood gunning for the mob.  Shawna Benson and Claire Roe return the fan favorite team back to DC. BATMAN Getting A New ROBIN?

When Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo end their epic Dark Knight run with Batman #51 next month they leave fans with amazing parting gifts in form of cool new characters in Gotham City.

Harper Row aka Bluebird, Julia Pennyworth, Duke Thomas are part of the new generation of allies in the Batman family introduced in The New 52.

As a boy, Duke helped Bruce Wayne in his Zero Year as a costumed crime fighter under Riddler’s reign. The breakout star led the We Are Robin title and movement. Will Duke have a new code-name and role in the DC Comics Rebirth?

We speculated more than a year ago, a member of new cast will become the next Robin. and debate who could become Bruce’s sidekick in our Robin Roundups.

DC Rebirth revealed.

Let the speculation begin…again.

DC Comics revealed the new lineup of comics starting with a huge DC Comics Rebirth one-shot by Geoff Johns arriving in May.

Aside from the creative lineups for the new number ones (except for Action and Detective which go back to original numbering) the announcement sparks a ton of questions about the fate of certain characters and hints at a change in status quo.

DC REBIRTH REVEALED

No more teasing.

Rebirth revealed.

DC Comics revealed the complete comics lineup for Rebirth starting in May. In a video message, Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns again said this is “not a reboot.”

The Birds of Prey soar again, Super Sons, Trinity, Titans and a status quo for the original Robin are revealed in the new lineup.

It all begins with DC Rebirth, an 80-page one-shot by Johns with artists Ethan Van Sciver, Ivan Reis, Gary Frank and Phil Jimenez on May 25th. The main DC Universe titles will start with new number ones except for Action Comics and Detective Comics – which will go back to original numbering. Continue reading DC REBIRTH REVEALED

BATGIRL & BLACK CANARY Reunion & Rumble in Burnside

This may be the closest fans get to a Birds of Prey reunion.

In the DC Comics previews for January, Black Canary will guest star in Batgirl #48 by Cameron Stewart, Brenden Fletcher and Babs Tarr.

“When Batgirl is down, it’s Black Canary to the rescue! Dinah and Barbara reteam to try to discover the identity of the malevolent mastermind making their presence felt in Burnside!”

It was the dreaded “Final Issue” some fans are just never ready to see.

 

DC Comics will end seven series in August. Birds of Prey, Superboy, All-Star Western, Batwing, Trinity of Sin: Pandora, Trinity of Sin: Phantom Stranger will have final issues arrives in August.
