Batman, Incorporated #13 was the grand finale of Grant Morrison’s inventive seven-year run on the Dark Knight.

Batman fans are buzzing over the potential death of a major character in the Batman family. In this previous post I speculated that Damian could be marked for (editorial) death after a sneak peek at DC’s May solicitations!
It doesn’t look good for the latest Boy Wonder after what is supposedly the cover to Batman Incorporated #8 revealed via Twitter but who knows?
I’m choosing not to reveal the images but if you are clamoring for it I’d like to recommend this Comic Book Resources link if you want to see it. That issue hits comic book shops March 26th.
In the balancing act of blogger and hard core comic book fan I want to share news and teasers while not blatantly giving away stories.
I still want to be surprised when I read comic books! I avoided the internet on Wednesday until I could read Batman #17 and Uncanny X-Men #1. I chose not to reveal the major spoilers in Amazing Spider-Man #700.
In the Batman family characters are always a target for death and resurrection (just ask Jason Todd!) so fans, writers, blogs will always be speculating on how a story will end.

The last chapter of this week’s Death of the Family revealed the Joker’s final shocker! While Batman Inc is not directly tied to Death of the Family could the death we’ve been expecting be due to Bruce and Talia’s blood feud and not the Joker’s maniacal manipulations?

This week’s Batman Incorporated #5 is the most disturbing and relentless chapter of Grant Morrison and Chris Burnham’s epic war between Bruce Wayne and Talia Al Ghul for control of their son.
Bruce Wayne declares that Damian can no longer be the new Robin. In this chapter Morrison takes us back into the twisted future he created in Batman #666. In this nightmarish world Damian is Batman, Gotham City is plagued by Jokerized zombies and the last hope lies inside Arkham Asylum.
Chris Burnham delivers every dark, gritty, gruesome scene of a badass Batman and Gotham gone insane that Morrison conjures up. The issue is packed with action, some very disturbing acts and a cliffhanger that thrills your heart and breaks it.

July 20th we’ll know if Talia Al Ghul is appearing in Christopher Nolan’s final Batman film. Fans have speculated that Marion Cotillard will be revealed as the daughter of Ra’s Al Ghul in The Dark Knight Rises.
Grant Morrison and Chris Burnham create a dark love letter to Batman’s deadly dearest in Batman Incorporated #2. The duo share Talia’s harsh life growing up as the daughter and pawn of the criminal mastermind. The story takes us inside the minds of Batman’s most complicated enemies and sets the stage for what will be one hell of a payoff.
We relive some of the most powerful moments of Talia’s life and deadly love affair with Bruce. Morrison builds the issue to the present as Talia confronts her father and forwards her plot to punish Batman. We’ll see how her betrayal is tied to the shocking assassination of Robin in the premiere issue.

I had the opportunity to meet Chris Burnham recently at Emerald City Comicon in Seattle – and I got a Batgirl head shot sketch! Burnham is joining Grant Morrison on a new Batman Incorporated. The new title is part of DC Comics New 52: The Second Wave. DC revealed preview art and a new quote from the artist.
“Oh, man, I am so excited for this book to come out! Grant and I have put our all into making this the best reading experience possible. We’re trying to do away with the widescreen movie-wannabe comics of the last ten or fifteen years and make the comicbookiest comics we’re capable of. Breaking borders, impossible perspectives, intricate panel interplay, sound effects, speed lines, splash pages, and some stuff that I’m not quite sure how to put into words. Words are Grant’s department, anyway!
We’re throwing everything we can think of at the wall and I’m pretty sure most of it’s sticking. It’s exciting, dramatic, funny, violent, deadly serious, utterly ridiculous, and, hopefully, moving. We’re doing our darnedest to dress the entirety of human experience up in tights for 20 pages a month and punch it right in the teeth.”
