Aaron Taylor-Johnson is in talks to play Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron. The mutant criminal (and son of Magneto) turned Avenging hero is one of the most divisive characters in Marvel Comics.

While promoting Kick-Ass 2 the star was asked about the appeal of Quicksilver.

Taylor-Johnson points out his that he was still in talks but according to the story with Total Film, he has clearly been doing his research: Continue reading KICK-ASS Star on Quicksilver in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

Joss Whedon and the cast and creative team of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. answered fan questions and previewed the upcoming series in a special Marvel liveblog. The new series will be set in The Avengers universe following the Iron Man 3. Clark Gregg reprises his role as Agent Phil Coulson in the series. Cobie Smulders returns as Agent Maria Hill in the pilot.

“Every week, it’s not going to be some new hero. It could be a device, or a mystery, or anything. They want to switch it up and deal with every aspect–the heartfelt stuff, the spy stuff, everything,” said Whedon. Continue reading AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Preview

Doctor Strange and the secret cabal of heroes become the targets of Thanos’ new alien enforcers in this  first look at New Avengers #9 by Jonathan Hickman and Mike Deodato courtesy Marvel.

“[Thanos is] searching for something on Earth and is now dispatching the Black Order to locate what he’s interested in,” says Editor Tom Brevoort, “As we see in these pages, [the Illuminati] were the last people to have the Infinity stones, so that is clearly of interest to Thanos, whether or not it’s what he’s ultimately after.” Continue reading Thanos Attacks in NEW AVENGERS Preview

The threat of Thanos and the Builders forces bitter rivals into an uneasy alliance but can they be trusted? (That would be a NO!)

Marvel shared a first look at Infinity tie-in issue Avengers #18 by Jonathan Hickman and Leinil Yu (Yu was the artist on Secret Invasion, too.) Hickman explains how the new Skrull race is drawn into the cosmic conflict: Continue reading Enter SKRULLS in AVENGERS #18 Preview

Scarlet Witch will join Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Avengers: Age of Ultron but don’t expect her signature look.

Director Joss Whedon gave hints of how Wanda might look on the big screen in a chat with The Nerdist.

“She might wear a headband or something that might echo it. The guys at Marvel, the conceptual artists, are phenomenal, and they are so good at taking the essence of what works and interpreting it for the actual human body, and when they paint something you can not only tell how it’s gonna work on a person, you can even tell what fabric it’ll be. They are very specific, very talented. So I’m excited to see the designs. Continue reading Scarlet Witch’s Look in Avengers: Age of Ultron

Avengers at War

New Avengers #8 is the final Prelude to Infinity with a cliffhanger that warps right into next month’s big event! But before I get ahead of myself here’s why this book rocks.

Inhumans – I love ’em. There’s an Inhumanity event coming and brand new series by Matt Fraction in 2014 but the Inhumans are front and center in the coming war with Thanos.

The silent Black Bolt finally gets to speak and the revelation with his beloved queen ends with the noise of a painful slap as the King confesses to Medusa. Mike Deodato and Frank Martin’s art on these scenes are spectacular and poignant. Continue reading Avengers at War
