Go inside the thoughts of a famous high school nerd turned hero with Parker’s POV as marketing for Amazing Spider-Man begins.
Now this new Parker’s POV photoblog shows snapshots and reveals thoughts of a famous teen from Queens. According to Spinoff Online & SuperHeroHype you can unlock hidden sections that reveal Peter’s design for his web shooters. This group shot of a high school debate shows what looks like actor Andrew Garfield.
For the non-comic book reader – Spidey’s webs are produced by web shooters he invented they were not organic as shown in the previous Spider-Man movies.
Amazing Spider-Man is a darker take on the web slinger but just how dark? Andrew Garfield who plays Peter Parker compared the reboot to The Dark Knight in a new Empire magazine interview.
“We haven’t gone for gritty, we’ve gone for grounded,” Garfield told Empire. “If we try and make Batman, we’ll fail. The new Batman is it’s own thing – and also in terms of tone, Spider-Man is nothing like that character. Spider-Man is witty, Spider-Man is a kid, Spider-Man wants to have fun, he’s a teenager and he needs to go through first love and piss around.”
The Geek world is still reeling from the Avengers Super Bowl spot but Spidey is swinging into action, family drama and some great one liners in the new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man!
Here’s the Marvel link if you’d like the read the entire press release.
Young love blossoming. Spidey fighting the Lizard. Parker family secrets.
What do you think of the darker, younger Spidey flick? Tony Stark has the best line in the Avengers trailer but I really loved Denis Leary’s in this one!
Spidey fans know Mary Jane is the love of his life but you never forget your first love. Gwen Stacy is Peter Parker’s haunting lost love. She’s the one that got away. Director Marc Webb is talking about why he went with Gwen over MJ and much darker tone for Amazing Spider-Man.
“There’s this trickster quality we were very keen on exploring, with that humor and that fun and that wisecracking stuff,” Webb told Comic-Con Magazine. “We wanted to keep that alive, but we wanted it to be realistic. We wanted that humor to come from a real place. My aim was to create a world where you could feel all those emotions. There are certainly darker, more intense feelings in this movie. There is betrayal, there is tragedy, but there’s also humor and romance. So it’s a very complex bouquet of emotions, but what you have to tread on is what feels authentic and what feels real, and you have to earn those different emotions. There are moments of furiousness and gravity, absolutely. But are there moments of humor and levity and whimsy? Absolutely. Andrew was really great. He used this term to describe Peter Parker in Spider-Man and Spider-Man in particular: he’s a trickster. He was like “How would Spider-Man web this guy? He’d give him a wedgy or he’d dos some awful graffiti.” There’s a punk rock quality to Peter Parker that’s really irreverent and fun and that’s something that Andrew embodies in a way that we haven’t seen before. Certainly the materials that have come out have a darker sentiment or there’s a darker projection, but we’re very keen on staying loyal to the humor of Spider-Man.”
Thanks to Comic Book Resources and Latino Review for posting the interview. The film’s official site posted new photos of Gwen and Peter.
I’m excited for Gwen and hope we meet Felicia Hardy in a possible sequel.
Indie filmmaker Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) takes Peter Parker back to high school for what the promo poster calls “the untold story” shot in 3D.
Andrew Garfield (The Social Network, Never Let Me Go) is the new Spider Man, now with his home-made web shooters and Emma Stone is his first love Gwen Stacy. Rhys Ifans is Dr. Curt Connors. Peter’s mentor who will transform into the Lizard.
Martin Sheen and Sally Field are Uncle Ben and Aunt May. Denis Leary is Police Captain George Stacy. The untold story may reveal the secret agent past of Peter’s parents played by Campbell Scott and Embeth Davitz
It may seem to soon for a reboot but I think this new spin on Spider-Man has all the elements to swing big at the box office.
Spider-Island wasn’t big enough! The world is about to become Spider-Man’s arena against one of his oldest foes. The journey to Amazing Spider-Man #700 takes Peter Parker to The Ends of the Earth. Marvel revealed story details on Amazing Spider-Man’s 50th Anniversary in today’s presser.
Writer Dan Slott on Doc Ock, “He’s got one shot for one master plan. He’s going for the whole thing. He’s going for the world. … This is Otto Octavius’s big grab for the greatest master plan of all time.” Slott further said that the story would rival (“Rivals? Ha! Ha, I say!” said Slott) the scope of Spider-Island and this would be “Otto Octavius Earth,” which would see Spider-Man operating on a global level to stop his arch-rival.
Slott teased that the Sinister Six lineup might change by the end of this story and “Spider-Man has designed a new suit and this is a suit specifically designed to go to war with the Sinister Six.”
This story will tie-in to the Amazing Spider-Man movie with an epic battle with the Lizard.
Amazing Spider Man movie buzz is swinging into action! The Lizard is the villian of the Spidey reboot. Now fans have an idea of what the reptilian foe will look like on the big screen – or do they? The web is wild with skepticism.
First there was the EXPOSED BY PEZ icident reported by MTV News. Apparently Pez has a licensing deal with Sony. Pez dispenser mockups featuring the heads of Spider Man and the Lizard hit the internet.
Today there’s leaked concept art on SpiderMedia.ru courtesy of Coming Soon. What do you think? Pretty creepy but this looks like the doctor is still in transition phase but not full Lizard.
Rhys Ifans plays Dr. Curt Connors who will become the Lizard in Amazing Spider Man. To learn more about the Lizard here’s the Marvel.com bio.
My favorite Lizard story is Torment. This was in Spider-Man #1-5 written and drawn my Todd McFarlane. And I recommend The Gauntlet storyline because I love how Chris Bachalo draws the Lizard.
