Man of Steel soars into theaters this Summer. We know the Superman reboot will have the characters you expect (Lois, Perry, the Kents, Jor-El) but the film is still shrouded in secrecy much like the The Dark Knight trilogy. David S. Goyer talks with Total Film about the top secret project and how “dark” the Man of Steel will be portrayed:
“It’s something Chris [Nolan] tried hard to do with the Batman films,” said Goyer, who had script and/or story credits in The Dark Knight trilogy. “I’m genuinely pleased with how much secrecy we’ve been able to maintain.
“There’s so much of the movie that people don’t know, that hasn’t been touched upon. The trailer’s just the tiniest, tiniest tip of the iceberg.”
The Nolan, Goyer ties make fans suspect this Superman reboot will be a “darker” approach like Nolan’s Batman.
“Relatable and realistic doesn’t necessarily mean dark. I think it would be inappropriate for us to approach a Superman film as if we were doing The Dark Knight.” Goyer explains.
For more of the exclusive interview here’s the Total Film and of course in will be in an upcoming issue.
“The Batman films are a lot more nihilistic; Superman has always been a story about hope.”
