With “heroes” like these how do you come up with a perfect villain?

Joker, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Boomerang and Enchantress (to be played by Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevinge ) are the infamous DC rogues who will appear in Suicide Squad. Update: Tom Hardy dropped out of playing Rick Flag in the Warner Brothers film.

Director David Ayer calls the film “a Dirty Dozen with supervillains” based on the comic book in which captured villains go on missions for a lighter sentence.

Who could the villain be?

Dr. Amanda “The Wall” Waller is one of the most influential and powerful non-powered characters in DC Comics. Waller is a master strategist who worked her way from congressional aide to director of Task Force X and Checkmate (see below) and once served as Secretary for Metahuman Affairs for a then President Lex Luthor. Waller is a powerful enemy and sometimes ally of superheroes and ruthlessly runs the Squad. Pam Grier played Waller on Smallville and Angela Bassett played her in Green Lantern. This cover below  is a perfect example The Wall’s steely demeanor as the non-powered power player manipulating villains like chess pieces.

Nemesis is an anti-hero vigilante turned government operative and master of disguise. Thomas Tresser took the name after a tragic operation gone wrong involving his brother and a criminal organization called The Council. After the world believed Nemesis died in a crash – Waller and Flag recruited him as the one non-criminal member of the Squad.

Onslaught In the classic John Ostrander series the team clashed with a super-powered terrorist group for hire called Jihad operating out of the fictional outlaw country of Qurac. The mercenaries were later renamed Onslaught.

Kobra is an international terrorist and scientist with a genius intellect and strategic mind and incredible fighter. The masked villain led Strike Force Kobra.

Checkmate is a division of Task Force X created by Waller as a covert intelligence agency. Officers took names of chess pieces. Kings and Queens oversaw Bishops who oversaw Rooks who planned missions for Knights and Pawns. Checkmate and the Squad often clashed as a result of inter-agency politics and power games. Maxwell Lord rose to the level of King in the organization. The metahuman with mind control powers became obsessed with collecting data to eventually use against superheroes he considered a threat to Earth.

Those are some villains that Task Force X could be tasked with fighting in Suicide Squad in 2016. Stay tuned for more news.
