Serious talent to play some iconic DC Comics bad guys.

Warner Brothers announced the cast for Suicide Squad:

Jared Leto as Joker, Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevinge as Enchantress plus Tom Hardy as Rick Flag.

John Ostrander is the writer who created the modern version of Suicide Squad.

Are there any classic team members he thinks should have been included?

“I think Bronze Tiger would have been interesting. I think they needed a few more characters that aren’t villains, because that’s what we did originally, in order to make it work. I think Night Shade could work either way as a hero or a villain. She has a very useful power. But again, it’s a very interesting choice in having The Joker for the Squad. It will be interesting to see how they make that work. And if they use [Lex] Luthor, as they are evidently in negotiations to do, that would also be an interesting story element,” Ostrander told Comic Book Resources.

Bronze Tiger (Ben Turner) is a martial arts master created as a partner of Richard Dragon.

In DC Comics The New 52 – Bronze Tiger is a member of the League of Assassins and appeared in Red Hood and the Outlaws and Michael Jai White played him on Arrow. Nightshade manipulates darkness and is currently off the grid in comics.

There’s always a sequel.

Suicide Squad opens August, 2016.
