SUICIDE SQUAD About THAT Scene

Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) of Suicide Squad is a woman of secrets.

Does she know the biggest secret of the DC Comics movie universe?

In the all-villain (with two superhero cameos) movie Waller assembles the super criminals of Task Force X.

In a first for the DC Universe movies there’s a mid-credits bonus scene.

What do the event of this pivotal scene mean for future films?

Before we break it down…

Just in case here’s a SPOILER ALERT!

If you have not seen Suicide Squad stop reading now.

Seriously.

OK.

Here it comes.

The scene shows Waller having dinner with Bruce Wayne. (Ben Affleck in the second of two scenes in the film.) The two reached a deal on Waller sharing her intel on metahumans including Aquaman and The Flash. (You may recall surveillance videos of those two in Lex Luthor’s files from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) in exchange for his assistance in keeping the first and failed Suicide Squad mission under wraps.

Tension is building between the two cool customers when Wayne orders Waller to shut Task Force X down and he’s prepared to use his “friends” to stop them if necessary.

Waller suggests Wayne “stop working night” seemingly declaring that she knows he is Batman.

This Waller/Wayne scene may be not action packed but shows the chess game (Checkmate, anyone?) between these power players and connects Suicide Squad into the greater DC movie universe.

Suicide Squad establishes Waller, Task Force X and A.R.G.U.S. (Advanced Research Group Uniting Super Humans) that will oppose or work with Batman and Wonder Woman’s search for other metahumans forming the Justice League.

A.R.G.U.S. is a division of U.S. Homeland Security run by Steve Trevor and Waller.

The stage seems set for Davis to appear in future DC films. Could she share scenes with Chris Pine (Trevor in Wonder Woman) uniting these top spies on the big screen?

Suicide Squad is in cinemas now.

Wonder Woman and Justice League arrive next year.

Check out Suicide Squad: War Crimes (pictured above) for a “declassified” tale of Waller by her legendary creator John Ostrander.
