Young Avengers fans are thrilled by news that Cassie Lang will return to the Marvel Universe. Could this signal the return of more original Young Avengers?
Ant-Man writer Nick Spencer revealed Cassie will be a big part of the new series starring her dad.
Cassie became known as Stature in the Young Avengers after her father’s death in Avengers Disassembled epic. Cassie joined her teammates Wiccan and Speed in their search for answers about their mother Scarlet Witch in Avengers: The Children’s Crusade.
After a series of time travel, cosmic forces, chaos magic and revelations – Scott Lang was resurrected but Cassie was destroyed by Doctor Doom in the heartbreaking finale.
While celebrating the return of Stature and hoping for a return of more Young Avengers like Patriot on Twitter – one reader pointed out that it was Cassie’s death that led to Patriot/Eli Bradey to leaving the team. Patriot felt tremendous guilt over Cassie’s tragic death and not preventing Scarlet Witch from undoing the near extinction of mutant race.
Kate Bishop, Wiccan and Hulkling joined a new version of the team written by Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie. Kate is part of the cast of Hawkeye but most of the original team is off the grid.
Could Stature’s rebirth signal the team of acclaimed Allen Heinberg and Jim Cheung run could all be back?
If Cassie really didn’t die could this inspire Eli to take up the role and rally his old teammates together?
