Avengers: Rage of Ultron was a surprise announcement from Marvel at San Diego Comic Con. The original graphic novel by Rick Remender and Jerome Opena arrives April, 2015 – one month before Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Remender revealed the story will bring back a long-lost Avenger.
Starfox.
Yes, Starfox.
The story will be set in the past and flash to the present in which Ultron has taken over Titan, the homeworld of Thanos and his brother Starfox.
Starfox is an Eternal whose real name is Eros. Along with super strength and flight, Eros can stimulate the pleasure centers of the brain. Starfox became a supporting player in few Avengers and She-Hulk storylines but has been on the far back burner until now.
“We will be putting a spotlight on Starfox who Jerome and I have literally been talking about for 10 years, going back to our days of building up indie books together when we would say, ‘Let’s just go pitch Starfox!,’” Remender told Marvel.com. “And actually, during the course of building this up on a call with Jerome, an idea was struck and some interesting aspects were struck building off of Titan that gave Starfox a really terrific role and puts him back into position to be a major player and do a lot of cool stuff. So there [were] a number of reasons for choosing Titan as well as wanting some connective tissue to Thanos and what that might lead to in the future.”
Remender will also bring back Plantman, the villain the Avengers faced when Eros joined the team and was renamed Starfox.
Avengers: Rage of Ultron arrives in April, 2015.
