What made Peter Quill a Guardian of the Galaxy and the Legendary Star-Lord?
Prepare to go back to the beginning for Marvel’s breakout hero.
When writer Sam Humphries relaunches Peter Quill’s adventures with a brand new Star-Lord #1 this Fall he’s revealing the early days of the outlaw turned hero.
Humphries will explore Quill’s early days as an astronaut and connection to an infamous character who stole scenes in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie:
“This is “Star-Lord: Year One.” Since I started writing Peter, I’ve taken him across space, I’ve taken him through the “Black Vortex,” and I’ve taken him to Secret Wars. With All-New All-Different Marvel, I thought this would be a good time to take Peter back to where it all began: an 18-year old with a chip on his shoulder, looking up at the stars, dreaming of going to space. How does he get there? What does he find? Who does he inevitably piss off? Is it everything he thought it would be?” Humphries told Marvel.com.
“I will say one thing: As much as Peter dreams of going to space, the reality is not going to be easy for him.
I will say another thing thing: Yondu.”
Artist Javier Garron (Cyclops, Inferno) joins Humphries for the new volume exploring Quill’s past:
“Our family story is something that defines the very core of us all, and Peter’s basis as a hero lies deep within who his parents were and what happened to them. We all try to find who we are and what our place in the world is, and in Peter’s case, that world is the whole universe! When we start our story, he’s becoming a man, but what you are going to witness is the birth of a hero!”
Star-Lord: Year One unveils Quill’s past, his present is told in Guardians of the Galaxy. When the new volume by Brian Bendis launches, Quill has left the team to assume his father’s throne ruling the Spartax Empire. As for the #StarKat romance – Kitty Pryde is the new Star Lady and a member of the revamped GotG.
