One of the most shocking moments in Marvel history came from Peter Parker in the first Civil War.

At the time, Parker was married to Mary Jane, living in Stark Tower and an Avengers. The friendly neighborhood Spider-Man chose Tony Stark’s pro-registration side and unmasked before the world. Parker would later regret his decision, join Steve Rogers but his life would be changed again.

Peter Parker will have a critical choice between Stark and Carol Danvers in this year’s follow-up. Whose side will Parker choose?

Marvel announced Civil War II: Amazing Spider-Man by Christos Gage and Travel Foreman, one of the many Civil War II tie-ins at C2E2.

Spidey is torn but he’s a very different man from the hero during  the first event.

Parker is now a jet-setting genius like Stark but won’t pick a side until he learns more about the Inhuman at the center of the new conflict.

“Spidey’s role in this Civil War is different than the last,” Gage told Marvel.com. “He’s learned from the previous Civil War. This time, before he chooses a side, he’s determined to really check things out and make an informed decision. Which should be a good thing—right?”

Gage says Parker’s friendship with Johnny Storm leads to him getting an audience with the mysterious Inhuman and this story will have a “big impact” on Parker and the Inhuman.

Will Parker ultimately choose to protect the future or change the future or will he be a wild card again and switch sides?

Civil War II begins on Free Comic Book Day.
