Spider-Man 2099 is back in his own solo series. Peter David created Miguel O’Hara back in the 1990’s as part of Marvel’s 2099 future line (which included X-Men, Punisher and Doom 2099.)

O’Hara came into our present in the pages of Superior Spider-Man last year. David will spin new stories of O’Hara in the Marvel Now with artist Will Sliney with covers by Simone Bianchi.

“I try not to “want” to return to characters I don’t own because, well, I don’t own them. I could burn up a lot of energy waxing nostalgic for my days on Spidey or Hulk or whomever, so I’ve learned to simply be ready for any offer at any time. When Ellie [Pyle, my editor] called and offered me SPIDER-MAN 2099, I was absolutely delighted because I’d been reading about Marvel’s plans for him from the outside and thinking, “That sounds cool,” but after years of practice I had restrained from wistfully wishing that I was going to be brought on board.  People kept asking me if I was part of it and I kept very honestly saying, “I haven’t heard anything about it.” So I was thrilled the day that changed and Ellie called. That was a good day,” David told Marvel.com.

O’Hara’s first modern mission is going undercover at Alchemax – the giant corporation where Miguel gained his powers in 2099.

Peter David answered fan questions about the new series at Emerald City Comicon this weekend in Seattle. I hoped he saw this cosplayer who paid homage to the Spider-Man from the future.
