As we wait the terror of Sharknado 2: The Second One on Sy-Fy I’m inspired to share some shark-themed comic book characters with real bite.

The Great White may be the most feared predator in the ocean but in the Marvel Universe beware the….

Tiger Shark

This Marvel super villain rose to evil infamy in Namor, The Sub-Mariner!

Todd Arliss was an injured Olympic swimmer who turned to Doctor evil Dorcas who used mad science and Namor’s DNA and the genes of a real tiger shark to transform Arliss into a monstrous criminal. Tiger Shark joined the Masters of Evil, Lethal Legion and even fought Wolverine. Tiger Shark’s greatest crime is killing Namor’s father.

Here’s a great shot of a two-headed Tiger Shark from the limited series: Fear Itself: The Deep! I thought it was perfect given my love of the other Sy-Fy classic movie: Two-Headed Shark Attack.

Just because a character is inspired by shark it doesn’t automatically make them evil…

Shark-Girl  Lara is an X-Man in training and student of the Jean Grey School in the pages of Wolverine and the X-Men. Lara is a Brazilian mutant with the power to transform into a were-shark with an appetite! You can see Lara in full power on the cover of Wolverine and the X-Men #27, part of a great arc by Jason Aaron and Ramon Perez with the kids on a field in the Savage Land.

Enjoy Sharknado 2 then devour some great comics with these characters with bite.

Stay safe!
