How many more Marvel movies can Scarlett Johansson appear in as Black Widow?
As many as she wants to be!
Natasha and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) are integral characters that connect the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Johansson plays Natasha again in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and will have a pivotal role in Avengers: Age of Ultron. (Johansson on script) With the growing box-office power and critical acclaim for Johansson and the devoted fan base for Nataha, Black Widow could become the first female superhero to headline her own movie.
Here’s how many potential movies I’d love to see Black Widow strike in:
Captain America 3: The Death of Captain America I hope Marvel keeps following the Ed Brubaker penned comic arcs like Winter Soldier. Black Widow, Sharon Carter, Winter Soldier and Falcon (we’ll meet her in Captain America: Winter Soldier) race to discover who killed Steve Rogers and later rescue him from a cross-time dimensional prison.
Black Widow vs. Black Widow Natasha discovers the Red Room is still active and a young operative named Yelena Belova is being programmed to be the new Black Widow. Natasha could face her past and ruthless rival in a solo movie.
Avengers 3 No official word but speculation is Marvel is building up to a showdown with Thanos.
Avengers Marvel Civil War Captain America, Black Widow and more heroes are branded outlaws when they refuse to accept the Superhero Registration Act. Tony Stark signs on. Steve and Tony’s friendship is shattered as hero fights hero with Black Widow as Cap’s secret weapon.
Black Widow and Winter Soldier Natasha and Bucky were Marvel’s hottest couple. After a brief role as Captain America, Bucky must become the Winter Soldier again. With Black Widow, Bucky must track down more Russian super soldiers like himself in the story again by Brubaker.
Marvel just launched a brand new Black Widow solo series by Nathan Edmondson and Phil Noto and still appears in multiple Avengers comics. With Natasha’s popularity soaring in comics and movies it could be Black Widow leaping to the front of the line in her own solo movie. With Johansson and great writer/directors like Joss Whedon crafting Black Widow’s stories – the missions and movies are endless.
