Scarlet Witch and Doctor Doom’s inversion spell to stop the Red Skull transformed Marvel heroes and villains. Avengers and X-Men are inverted. Bad guys are doing good.
In this week’s fight between Wanda and Doom, Magneto sided with Doom and enraged an already inverted Scarlet Witch. The Queen of Chaos unleashed her magic to “end the line” and sever her blood ties to her father and brother. Only Pietro was affected.
It appears Magneto is not really the father of Wanda and Pietro. What is the editorial origin of this revelation that changes Marvel history.
“Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch’s history has been fairly stable in recent years, but if you go back it hasn’t always been that way. They have kind of a confused and byzantine history. We’ve been told different things about them at different points, and we’ve believed different things about who and what they were. So we’re going to delve into all of that again,” Brevoort told Comic Book Resources.
You may remember the No More Mutants teaser turned out to be for the new volume of Uncanny Avengers. Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver will be part of the new roster after AXIS which will be written by Rick Remender.
If Magneto isn’t their father who is?
Given the importance of the Inhumans to Marvel comics and studios, Wanda and Pietro could be children of a lost tribe of Inhumans we’ve met in the Inhuman series by Charles Soule.
The man who likely knows the answer:
The High Evolutionary! This scientist obsessed with genetic manipulation was actually handed the key to break the genetic code by an Inhuman outcast scientist named Phaeder. The High Evolutionary set up his kingdom of evolved creatures on Wundagore Mountain in Transia. Magda (Wanda and Pietro’s mother) took refuge on Wundagore Mountain after running away from Magneto. The twins were born during a fight between the Knights of Wundagore and the Elder God Chthon, who would haunt Wanda all her life.
Who else may know?
Bova, the nurse evolved from a cow (one of the High Evolutionary’s New Men evolved from animals) who took Magda in and delivered the twins.
The next Uncanny Avengers volume teases a Counter-Earth. Is this the same Counter-Earth created by the High Evolutionary.
Wanda and Pietro’s origins are tied to aliens, supernatural forces, ancient gods and twisted scientists. Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver could be Inhuman, alien, children of ancient gods or Counter-Earth(ian)?
Let’s not forget. When Magneto was de-powered on M-Day, he turned to the High Evolutionary so they have a recent twist in their long history.
It sure appears the High Evolutionary could be making a major comeback in 2015 and the untold story of Wanda and Pietro will be the big mystery of the year in Uncanny Avengers.
