Uncanny Avengers #1 arrives this week with new members, new mission and continues the tradition of adding villains turned X-Men.
The inverted Victor Creed is on the team with Rogue, Scarlet Witch, Captain America, Vision, Brother Voodoo and Quicksilver.
Creed is on this version of the Avengers and starring in Wolverines but assume he’s Logan’s replacement.
“It’s not as simple as saying ‘Sabretooth is the new Wolverine,” said Executive Editor Tom Brevoort.
In AXIS, Creed was inverted along with other villains who helped save the day and defeat Apocalypse and his inverted X-Men but Creed’s inversion stuck.
“Sabretooth remembers all the horrible things that he did, but his moral compass has been flipped, and he has to deal with his memories and that nobody trusts him. The Avengers don’t know what to do with him or how far to trust him. You’ve got a serial killer who put his life on the line to save the world, but he’s still a serial killer. They bring him along on the first mission because they have to,” said writer Rick Remender, “They didn’t put together the perfect team, they’re going to war with who’s available.”
Uncanny Avengers #1 arrives on Wednesday.
