Ryan Reynolds suits up again as Deadpool for new solo movie?
Fox is closing a deal with Reynolds to play Wade Wilson again according to Deadline.
Earlier this year Fox announced a release date for a Deadpool solo movie according to The Hollywood Reporter. The X-Men spinoff is scheduled for February 12, 2016 and will be directed by Tim Miller.
Reynolds played the mutant mercenary in X-Men: Origins: Wolverine and Scott Adkins played the character after his Weapon X engineered transformation into Deadpool. This announcement comes after test footage leaked online. The footage starring Reynolds was shot years ago.
The fan-favorite anti-hero is a talkative mercenary known as the “Merc With a Mouth.” Wilson has terminal cancer and underwent experiments with covert government agency. He has multiple powers including a healing factor but his body is horribly scared. Deadpool first appeared in New Mutants before starring in multiple limited series and his own solo series.
Deadpool was recruited by Wolverine to join his Uncanny X-Force – the third version of the pro-active mutant squad. Wade was most recently part of the latest incarnation of Thunderbolts.
No word on how the Deadpool announcement will affect plans for an X-Force movie or be connected with X-Men: Apocalypse.
