Rose City Comic Con is just one week away! Portland is the home of an incredible comic book scene with cool comic shops, writers and artists. It’s a perfect city for geektastic creativity and celebrating the comics, movies, television shows and videogames we geek out for.
Here are my top reason to beam to PDX for Rose City Comic Con:
Avery Brooks! He’s Captain Benjamin Sisko. He’s the Emissary. Brooks had the challenge of playing the Star Trek commanding officer with the most powerful character journey and literally went where no Trek C/O went before on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Brooks directed one of my all time favorite episodes Rejoined and one of the most innovative, Far Beyond the Stars.
Morgan Grendel! Star Trek: The Next Generation “The Inner Light” (need I say more?)
Sam Jones! Saamm….Jonesssss! He will entertain every one of us! He made sci-fi icon Flash Gordon come to life in full blonde, buff, boldness in the 1980 film with the unforgettable soundtrack. Jones played himself in a hilarious scene-stealing role in Ted giving Mark Wahlberg the ultimate Flash Gordon fan experience.
Dave Guintoni! The star of Grimm, set in Portland, comes to Portland to meet and greet fans of the hit supernatural crime drama.
Greg Rucka! The acclaimed writer (Queen & Country, Whiteout, Punisher, Batwoman, Wonder Woman) has a new creator owned book that’s one of the best new titles of the year. I can’t wait to ask about Lazarus and get an autograph on my number one issue.
Matt Fraction! X-Men, Fantastic Four, Mighty Thor, Invincible Iron Man, Defenders, what next? Fraction takes on the Inhumans in 2014. Satellite Sam is his new Image book with legendary Howard Chaykin and I can’t wait to ask about Sex Criminals, a sex comedy comic book.
Kelly Sue DeConnick! She piloted Captain Marvel to new heights of success, writes Avengers Assemble and is launching Pretty Deadly, her own Image book.
Kurt Busiek, Adam Hughes, Tim Sale,Sam Humphries and Cullen Bunn are among the roster of comic book creators attending.
Christopher Judge of Stargate, Jewel Staite of Firefly and voice actors John DiMaggio of Futurama, Adventure Time and Billy West of Futurama and Ren and Stimpy join the stellar cast of celebrities.
Rose City Comic Con is September 21st and 22nd in Portland, Oregon at the Oregon Convention Center.
