Fans were upset with news Anna Paquin had been cut from X-Men: Days of Future Past. According to Vulture – Paquin (as Rogue) was never completely cut from the sequel and it pivotal to a major moment in the plot of the time travel story.

The film unites the cast of the original X-Men trilogy and X-Men: First Class. Future X-Men send Wolverine into the past to change history and prevent a war on mutants by giant robots called Sentinels.

With the fan response maybe Rogue could appear in future film. Channing Tatum is reportedly talked with producers about a Gambit film. Producers hinted at a potential Mystique film starring Jennifer Lawrence.

In the movies Rogue was in a love triangle with Iceman and Bobby, but in comics Rogue and Gambit were the on-again, off-again hot X-couple. Rogue is the adopted daughter of Mystique. Rogue even had a flirtation with Magneto (a de-aged Master of Magnetism.) None of those comic book relationships have been explored on film. With Anna Paquin having wrapped the final season of True Blood – she could be available to reprise her role as Marie (aka Rogue) again.

Rogue led her own team in X-Men Legacy but is now starring in Uncanny Avengers.

X-Men: Days of Future Past opens May 23.
