A hero rises when Red Lightning saves Seattle music.

When seven-year-old Nick Looney awoke today he was a boy with a love of superheroes (we fully support that!)

This already extraordinary boy was transformed and embarked upon the ultimate Seattle superhero adventure. Nick went from a second-grader fighting leukemia into a superhero character created especially for him: Red Lightning.

Seattle needed Red Lightning to save our beloved music history!

In a secret room at the Four Seasons, Nick was briefed about the infamous Bobby Poppins and his side kick, Kitty Catch. Poppins was a pop wannabe plotting to go back in time so he could steal the music of Seattle icons Jimmie Hendrix, Nirvana and others. While he swiped the music, Catch was burglarizing the Experience Music Project (EMP) Museum, taking incredible musical relics.

With the classic music gone and any reminder of these musicians on display, Poppins and Catch would change the landscape of music and steal their way to a music takeover.  The city of Seattle needed Red Lightning to catch these two ruthless villains and save Seattle music and culture.

Nick and his older brother, Cooper as his sidekick – The Dragon – the two went on an incredible adventure to save the music.

“My favorite part of all of this has been seeing Nickolas and his brother get so excited about everything,” said Stephanie, his mom. “Cooper is such an amazing big brother to Nickolas. It’s so amazing that Cooper gets to be a part of Nickolas’s day since this has affected him too.”

Red Lightning and The Dragon used several high-tech superhero gadgets – including a “truth pen” that would force people to truthfully answer any question he had written down and a watch to give him time travel powers — to help them solve the mystery.

Red Lightning and The Dragon stopped Bobby Poppins and Kitty Catch! The dastardly duo are behind bars.

The duo went from Zillow’s HQ to Starbucks to the famous Underground Tour where he used his spy noise spheres to trap the villains to the wall. It was onto the Seattle Monorail from there to the EMP to return the Seattle sound and priceless relics. Hundreds of fans and grateful citizens cheered for our newest superhero, Red Lightning, while Mayor Ed Murray congratulated him, gave Nick the key to the city and declared it Red Lightning Day in Seattle. Macklemore and Heart were among the local music superstars who thanked Red Lightning for his heroics.

Nick was already a hero. Wishes are an important part of his care and the treatment protocol. Adventures like Nick’s give these children something to look forward to during very difficult days. Wishes provide strength. And, their impact is long-lasting.

Nick’s mom, Stephanie, agrees. “Nick will remember this day for a long time. He has been through so much that no child should ever have to go though. He deserves to have all the positive attention he can get.”

You can be a hero, too!

All wish kids are our heroes. In fact, right now there are about 400 children waiting for their turn to experience the transformational power of a wish.
