Warner Brothers/DC announced Alexander Siddig will play Ra’s al Ghul on Gotham. Sidding is known for playing Dr. Julian Bashir on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Doran Martell on Game of Thrones.

In the comics Ra’s al Ghul (aka The Demon’s Head) is a criminal mastermind with the secret to immortality thanks to a network of Lazarus Pits. Ra’s al Ghul is the leader of the League of Assassins. Talia, his daughter, is mother of Batman’s son, Damian. Ra’s has another daughter, Nyssa.

On Gotham the classic Batman villain has a connection to recent villains of the series. As Bruce (David Mazouz) uncovers the secret of the Court of Owls, he finds Ra’s al Ghul is pulling the strings. As leader of an international criminal organization known as the League of Shadows, Ra’s al Ghul will prove himself to be Jim and Bruce’s most dangerous enemy yet.

Liam Neeson played the villain in Batman Begins. Matt Nable played Ra’s on Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow.

Gotham returns to Fox on Monday, April 24th at 8 p.m. with Siddig to make his first appearance later in the season.
